Adsense: "Smarter and Smarter Pricing"
Quote:
Smarter and Smarter Pricing
With the new AdWords pricing model, weÂ’ll also automatically adjust the price of clicks across the Google Network based on their expected value to the advertiser. A number of factors will be taken into account when calculating the expected value, including the keywords or concepts that triggered the ad. For example, a click on an ad for digital cameras on a web page about photography tips may be worth less than a click on the same ad appearing next to a review of digital cameras.
|
I really doubt Google has reliable technology here. Just seems to be random devaluing of clicks.

I would agree with that. My traffic has doubled as well as my click-throughs - but the payout is much less than previously.

for me, not much changed. I still get about the same per click than before and CTR is also pretty stable. I now even make a little more per click compared to before.

Adsence
I agree John,
You hit the nail on the head - (Devalue) is the right word...
I have noticed a fall in the pay out on clicks on my dance music forum & DJ music forums

Proably because of irrelevant ads on your page like google say, if the ads are relevant you get more money.

No, that's not what Google is saying.

Both pages are relevant to digital cameras, but for some reason Google thinks they can guess which click through is more likely to result in a purchase.
I would think that if somebody clicks on an ad which says "Buy Digital Cameras", then the consumer interest in buying is qualified right then and there.
By the way, if the ads are irrelvant, Google shouldn't be serving them. If Google is unable to serve relevant ads, I believe they serve PSA. Either way, the cost per click shouldn't go down, IMO.

They just want to keep more money for themselves probably They got the people using the ads, provide good PPC at first, then devalue clicks cause they know everyone will still use adsense...

I think it is an issue of providing a service with value. Google can ensure the best value and ROI by discounting ads that do not have as much implied intent as a search result would have

The logic makes sense to me.

Either way, I make more on adsense than with any other ad network. I'm thankful for it! Can't say that it'll stay that way, but I'm hoping for it.
