Making more money using non Google ad networks
I am interested in reading everyones experiences with Adsense and Adwords in this forum but very little has been said about the alternatives to Google.
I understand that this reflects the landscape of where Google dominates.... but I am interested in knowing the results from others using Yahoo!, MSN, Adbrite, Clicksor, SinoTech Media or Quigo.
If anyone has a comprehensive comparison between using these alternative networks then please let me know. Or if anyone else is interested then I will put together a comparison chart over the next month to see the relative eCPM's for each network in various content areas/geographies.
Cheers

One important reason is that the Google AdSense is the first choice for web publishers worldwide because of the possibilities of revenue and the options.
In other advertising programs, the number of advertisers is just so low compared with the Google ads but Yahoo is a great alternative and many are using it, but they still are in Beta and not available worldwide.

Google is the poor cousin here .....
Thanks very much for your reponse.
I take your point about Google being the natural choice as the dominate player in the US and Europe but here in Asia, particularly China they are seen as the poor cousin and only have 12-15% of the search market.
I know that in other parts of Asia (Korea for example), Google is also the 2nd player behind a local incumbent and Yahoo! dominates in Hong Kong, Taiwan and Japan.
I am interested in the facts about the revenues (eCPM's) that you are getting in other parts of the world and seeing if this is the primary deciding factor of why Google is a key player or it is other considerations (loyalties to brand, perception of innovation or quality etc). For in the Asia markets the eCPM is not necessarily the only factor keeping the local players in No.1 position.
Any facts for me to put a paper together would be helpful. I will also make this available to this forum.
Cheers

Yahoo users come to our site less, but it seems that they are more engaged users than google users. They tend to stick around and convert more.
Ask and MSN's paid search have never really sent any traffic.
As to any other PPC networks, I don't really have that much experience with them, so I can't really comment.
Hope this helps.

Looks like Eastern surfers prefer to visit a portal site rather than a pure search site...

Out of all the ones mentioned I would say that YPN and MSN are the next best. I don't really use any of the sites mentioned for content monetizing.

I hate the way Yahoo forces you to pay in advance, it stifles creativity and changes, at least to me. In addition, I did not see that great of return, but Adsense humps my face and I shall continue to be faithful.

I prefer adsense as they have a effective metrics system to monitor traffic. As for yahoo, i am wary because of their well-publicized click fraud cases in court.

Well, i did only use adsense, bidvertiser, adbrite and Kontera.
Adsense no doubt is the best.
Advantage of Bidvertiser is you can manual approve the ads and they can pay via paypal.
Adbrite you need huge traffic
Kontera you need to have keywords
