I hope your aware that using someone elses SS# is a very serious offense that carries jail time. Its called Identity theift and it does not mater if its intentional or unintentonal.
WHy dont you go into adsense and see for yourself if you can change the SS# and if you cant you should contact them about this error.

Entering a false SSN is a felony, and with a felony on your record, say goodbye to college or a good job. As for Adsense members from the UK, don't you still have to pay taxed on your earnings or does the VAT tax take the place of an income tax completely?

Actually, I think in the Uk you do have to put it on your self-assessment (sp?) for tax, but we get charged to convert the cheque by our banks.

If I remember right, UK residents have to make a declaration of origin when signing up for AdSense. There's a tax treaty between the governments of the US and UK that essentially states that UK residents will not be taxed in the US for income earned in the US - this income will instead be taxed upon receipt in the UK by the UK government. You never - ever - mess with the tax people, though.

From what I remember about the tax agreement on Adsense, you only get away with not paying the tax if the servers aren't located in the US and you don't have any business interests in the US.
Then again, that might have been another US based affiliate system we're on.

If your based in NYC then you will still have to pay US taxes on Google Adsense because you're a US citizen. The exemption only applies to UK people earning money from US sources without any financial interests there, eg: servers or offices.
Of course if you move to [Old] York (England) then you might be able to get away with it but it's not exactly the city that never sleeps.

seems quite odd to me.

To be specific, this applies if you don't own a server in the States. If you lease a server in the States but live somewhere else (like me), you don't have to worry about US social security or tax.
Of course you still have to pay tax in your own country according to your own laws.
