Nominations for the First President of the World
Zap made an interesting post recently and it got me thinking. So let me put it to you; - Do we need one?,
- What would he/she do?,
- Who out of the current crop of world leaders/celebrities/egg heads would you like to lead us into a brave new future as President of Earth?
- And as a side note, what figure from history do you think could have done the job?
My answers ...
I'm not sure we need one.
Tackle population growth through universal free education for children up to the age of 18.
John Cleese or Hulk Hogan (I really don't know, I don't think anybody could).
Churhill?

It got me thinking though that the World now might be actually embracing
a democratic government if people would elect a single world leader through Presidency.
Isn't UN doing such concept already?

I'd nominate Ferre.
To be honest, though, if we did organize a human collective more powerful than any nation, it would probably be powerful enough that even a group of nations wouldn't be enough to stand against us. We would undoubtedly have several citizens from those opposing countries within our ranks. Ever try to fight an enemy within?
I'm not so sure we'd need a president, either. Perhaps just a spokesperson, a public face, who simply informs us of our collective decisions. Maybe there's enough of us on the net, fed up with governments of nations dictating the course of history for us.

Zap,
Surely you are not talking about Пролетарии всех стран, соединяйтесь!
(Proletarians of all countries, unite!) because I would definitely to stay away from that form of collective power.

You should put in a good word for him, since you're a mod. I miss his presence here too. But president of the world is a bit excessive -I think.
No, we would need someone more understanding for that job. S.I.T.A. would probably do a good job -no? I nominate S.I.T.A. for president of the NWO.

My Answers:
1. No. I don't think we need one... and I guess it will only result into chaos or something like that because we all have our different goals, cultures, beliefs and etc that might get in to the way.
2. Well, I guess he/she might come up with a plan to unite the people of the world which I personally think as an impossible task to do.
3. Me? Just kidding.
4. Umm... Mother Theresa?

The world is made of hundreds of cultures , folk and way of living that are completely different
one single men can not understand and therefore take in account , all this diversity , and he won't be recognized and respected as a president has to be .
This is why i think a world president is not a good idea

I don't think a world leader is necessary. Like others have mentioned, not one single person is familiar with every variation of religion, cultures, politics etc. Plus just imagine the chaos that would ensue after this world president picks a residence. would they be biased towards that country??? no way this could happen.

Why have one if we can have many?..
I certainly agree that we don't need a world president as what we all know we are different individuals thus
every country needs different approaches from different persons who are familiar with the attitude, behavior, culture,
religion, politics etc, conflicts may arise if this will happen .

My apologies, Stronginthearm. I'd edit it but the edit button is not appearing now.
Anyway, as if the Muslim world isn't angry enough at America...
I doubt they would be satisfied if the President of the World was anything other than a Muslim, which gives me cause to wonder why the Muslim world cheered Obama's election.

^ OK dude
May be because Obama is as close as they are likely to get, or may be they were just happy Bush was going!
Atom: Kirk would be too busy talking to the ladies. Spock would be the one running the show.
