If you look at the modern world,
The economy is going to ****
We are on the brink of a flu pandemic
And the world is being polluted at an alarming rate
I think we're screwed.

I really like #1 from that link
Quote:
Storm #1.
Plunging Jobs
On Friday, the Bureau of Labor Statistics announced that job losses were running at a slightly slower pace than in the first quarter. So Wall Street cheered.
But it’s a joke, and the 539,000 additional Americans out of work aren’t laughing.
Nor are the 23 million people — 15.8 percent of the work force — who are officially unemployed … are struggling with lower paying part-time jobs … or have given up looking for work entirely.
Jobs Collapsing
Look. In December 2007, there were 138.1 million jobs in America. Now, there are only 132.4 million.

That is what free trade does to a nation.
Companies have been moving their factories to foreign countries for decades and exploiting cheap labor. And its finally catching up with us.

That's right, and raising sales tax, taxes, payroll, state licenses will only sabotage the economy recovery.

I am also satisfied with natural elements.Today comapnies are trying to cut down their input cost. For this they are outsourcing their projects to other countries.Once production made they get it imported to their own countries.Bringing those goods doesn't cost them more than what they would be investing in their own countries.

Companies cut their costs and raise the prices to survive, but financial companies did not find a better way to double their fees even if they are helped by the government.
That way they are making more money than before the economic crisis using the system to their advantages. The human side doesn't matter to them.

Many stable companies now are closing, hundreds of people don't have job not only in US but also in other countries. We should pray and do something about whats happening to us.

See the title of the article and all the graphs in it..
"Five Economic Storms Raging NOW!"... "Jobs collapsing NOW"... "Consumer credit collapsing NOW"
I think now is the moment for the so called experts to shut up.
I find it funny how they love to talk about apocalypse after it already happened. Their information and knowledge is useless now.
Why do they all know why everything happened after it happened and they didn't see it coming? If any of them dares to say "I knew it would happen" they should be put on jail for not helping the world recover before the economy went to hell.
Now it's them who are taking advantage of it, writing articles, blogging, and talking on interviews about this apocalypse they are making money out of a horrible situation that affects millions around the world. The best thing we could do is ignore these opportunists and not give them the money that they are gaining from advertisements.

You made a good point there.
I always find ridiculous to hear the, so called "Experts", they don't know nothing and gamble with their "information" just to highlight their name or go on TV.
Stay away from the "experts", they don't use crystal bowl and they are not visionary readers!

Why not add to the misery? The U.S. Minimum Wage just went up today by 70 cents an hour.
http://money.cnn.com/2009/07/24/news/economy/minimum_wage/index.htm
That doesn't sound like much on the face of it but consider that's another $15,000 a year that a small business may have to pay out to their employees.
Expect more small companies to go out of business. Expect restaurants to raise their prices and reduce their portions. Expect hotel and motel rooms to go up in cost. Expect many businesses to let some employees go.
Of course, it may balance out, as the number of people who keep their minimum-wage jobs will get bigger checks, and they don't usually put anything away for savings, so more money will be moved back into the economy... (I'm dreaming, of course...I seriously doubt it will balance out.)
CNN reported this morning that the Department Of The Interior received something like 312 Billion dollars of stimulus money. Over the past five months it has dedicated a little more than 100 million dollars to projects (out of 312 billion). But that doesn't mean those projects have been started. Out of 312 billion dollars, less than five million is actually being used right now and going toward payroll for workers.
We need jobs! Without jobs no one can pay their bills.
Now add to all of this another connected crisis: unemployment checks. The NY times reports that 16 states are running out of money to pay unemployment claims and they are running not weeks behind in getting the checks to the people, but months!
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/07/24/us...er=rss&emc=rss
People are losing their homes because their unemployment checks have not yet arrived, months after they filed the application and it was approved!
Obama needs to forget the stupid Health Care Reform, end the war and start helping the people right here at home! We need jobs now. We need more paychecks getting into the pockets of American workers and we need it now.

With all the bad politic decisions accumulated, the job market will contract even more, but that's not all, employers will pay less for good jobs and governement/states are or will tax more businesses and people. Consequenly you will see more business failures, and more unemployed people or people not been paid at their just value.
What's make me sick is that educated people with university diplomas are paid $12 an hour in our state, that's a shame.

That's why I am self-employed, Natural. I refuse to allow anyone but myself to determine how much I am worth.

I understand Allen.
When you are self-employed or own a small business, you are working much more than 8-10 hours per day, you don't have week ends or vacation for a long time, you are not making a lot of money for a while before you or your company reach a certain amount of customers to be profitable.
If you fail you have to reimburse credit on your investissments some day, you don't have the unemployment benefit, you lost all the hard work you did for years.
That's what bankers and tax people don't get by punishing more and more small busninesses.

So we should pray, then do something? Hmm. Does that mean that you admit that praying will do nothing?
