Our forefathers must have done something right

It is a well established fact in history that while our forefathers did in fact have the same flaws as did other human beings. During the day that they existed an entirely different set of social standards existed. These standards were the standards of such things as "Honor, Honesty, Accountability, Compassion, Principles, Morals, and Patriotism" to name only a few. To our forefathers one's honor was worthy of one's death, do we hold these same standards today? Do our current politicians put their honor even in front of their lust for power?

Our current state is not a failing from our forefathers or their foresight, it is the decline of moral character of people of the modern day and the momentum of secular progressiveness that has been set into action since the time of President Wilson and even before. People that believe that morals and character, as our Constitution should be fluid objects subject to change depending on the surrounding influences a point and time. This lack of dedication allows our character as a nation to erode into an unidentifiable slosh of dark liquid rushing along the path of least resistance.

I dont really know what to say, except some of the founding fathers had certain "traits" that few of our elected officials have today.

Some of those traits include - dignity, honor, respect and an understanding of government.

If you take a high school or college graduate, and ask them basic questions about government, chances are they will not be able to answer. If someone does not have a basic understanding of our government, how are they supposed to make an educated decision when it comes time to vote? They cant, thats how.

The founding fathers understood how important it is to keep an eye on your government. Because if you do not keep an eye on your government, do not expect anyone else to.

KEV,The additional problem is they want to start changing the constitution which is one of the most incredible documents in history. Its a shame that so few people either know enough or care enough to want to change things back again.
