Sorry, I don't see it running out anytime soon. Probably not even within the next fifty years, and I'll be gone by then.

That's correct, perhaps more than fifty years if they found some in arctic.

They can always extract oil sand:

And you can bet that the "more measured pace" is closely related to the per-barrel price of oil that's already being extracted. As the price of that oil rises, I'd fully expect that the pace of new development will become significantly less "measured".
