Muntader al-Zaidi has been released from prison and has fled from Iraq out of fear for his life. He is now in Greece getting medical treatment.
We who have never been there can not imagine the pain and agony experienced by the common everyday type of person in Iraq, the ones who have suffered most from this illegal war the U.S. launched in Iraq simply because they lived there, because they were in the way.
Muntader al-Zaidi, in his own words:
“I saw the chance and I seized it,” he said. “If those who blamed me knew how many destroyed houses I walked over with those shoes that I threw, and how many times those shoes mixed with the blood of the innocent, and how many times those shoes went into homes where the honor of those who lived there was disgraced, then it was probably the proper response.”

In my opinion, it was the very least that should have happened. Other things should have been thrown at Bush, things much more difficult to dodge, but we Americans, I think, do not realize the extreme tragedy that befell another people. It didn't happen to us, so it's easy to shrug off and not speak out, isn't it?
