Obama Enlisting The Arts To Push His Agenda
This is just incredible.
There was a conference call a month or so ago involving members of the arts community in the U.S., and it was for the sole purpose of enlisting these people to "...create a stronger community amongst ourselves to get involved in things we are passionate about as we did during the campaign but continue to get involved in those things, to support some of the president's initiatives, but also to do things that we are passionate about and to push the president and push his administration." (Mike Skolnik, quoted directly from the call transcripts.)
Also said: "And I think all of us who are on this phone call were selected for a reason, and you are the ones that lead by example in your communities. You are the thought leaders. You are the ones that, if you create a piece of art or promote a piece of art or create a campaign for a company, and tell our country and our young people sort of what to do and what to be into; and what's cool and what's not cool."
Wait a minute! Let me see if I have this straight. He said "... as we did during the campaign..." ?
WHAT?! They were actively attempting to make up our minds for us through advertising during the campaign? (No, I'm not talking about advertising bought and paid for by the Obama campaign, I'm referring to ad campaigns (magazines? television?) for different companies that were created by people in the arts community who were enlisted by the Obama campaign, whose secret agenda was to sway our minds in subtle ways to love Obama!)
I wonder if the companies who hired those artists knew what they were really paying for...
Just as when Obama was trying to get our children to write him a letter about how they could help the president, here we go again, going after our young people, as quoted above: "... and tell our country and our young people sort of what to do and what to be into; and what's cool and what's not cool."
Go here and read the transcripts of this conference call yourself.
It's just unbelievable the lengths this president will go to and the depths he will sink to, to push his agenda down our throats.
And don't forget...he'll run for re-election in 2012.

Are you really surprised at this? I'm certainly not.
I wouldn't have expected any less of the DNC Support Team. Just don't expect to hear anything about this from the "mainstream" media (at least until the Right Wing Attack Machine, aka alternative media, forces them into covering it).

I found a link to a blog post with examples of the art works created by this group.

BTW, the federally-funded NEA is prohibited by its founding charter from engaging in political activities such as policy advocacy.

Sorry, Allen. I apparently messed it up when I copied-and-pasted it. I'll try to post a corrected link in a bit.

Guys, believe me, I don't think we need to continue torturing ourselves with all the ridiculous things that this administration is doing. Let's be honest with ourselves, we all know he won because he was Mr. Congeniality and Mr. Charm. Of course that was not enought to convince me to vote for him but for millions of people, sadly enough, it was... And HERE WE ARE, eight months into the administration and I am still waiting to hear something positive, good or remotely coherent to come out of this administration!!! It pains me to think that this could turn out to be another Disastrous "Carter presidency"... Argh... Just thinking about it makes me shiver...

Before this president is finished, I'm sure he'll make Carter look like a saint. I believe his real agenda is the destruction of the United States as a sovereign nation. These bailout bills and stimulus packages are designed to bankrupt us.
I heard he's considering another bailout bill, this one for, of all things, distressed news organizations...

Here are some specifics on the legal implications of this effort:
Quote:
At Least 6 Federal Laws and Regulations Violated By the NEA Conference Call
by Ben Shapiro
Yesterday, I posted about the NEA conference call’s clear and obvious violations of the Anti-Lobbying Act (19 U.S. Code §1913), which explicitly provides: “No part of the money appropriated by any enactment of Congress shall, in the absence of express authorization by Congress, be used directly or indirectly to pay for any personal service, advertisement, telegram, telephone, letter, printed or written matter, or other device, intended or designed to influence in any manner a Member of Congress, a jurisdiction, or an official of any government, to favor, adopt, or oppose by vote or otherwise, any legislation, law, ratification, policy, or appropriation, whether before or after the introduction of any bill, measure or resolution proposing such legislation, law, ratification, policy or appropriation …” The Anti-Lobbying Act, according to government handbooks, prevents government employees from engaging in “substantial ‘grass roots’ lobbying campaigns … expressly urging individuals to contact government officials in support of or opposition to legislation …. Provid[ing] administrative support for lobbing activities of private organizations …”
Violation of this law, in turn, violates 31 U.S. Code §1352, which, if read broadly, bans the use of federal funds for lobbying by the recipients: “funds appropriated by any Act [may not be] expended by the recipient of a Federal contract, grant, loan, or cooperative agreement to pay any person for influencing or attempting to influence an officer or employee of any agency, a Member of Congress, an officer or employee of Congress, or an employee of a Member of Congress in connection with any Federal action …”
But that’s not all. The conference call also violates the Hatch Act – in particular, 5 U.S. Code §7323(a)(4), which prohibits federal employees from “knowingly solicit[ing] or discourag[ing] the participation in any political activity of any person who – (A) has an application for any compensation, grant, contract, ruling, license, permit, or certificate pending before the employing office of such employee …”
