EGYPT: Controversial organ transplant bill welcomed by WHO

At last, It is good that the WHO are doing their job to stop the Organ trafficking in middle east.

Quote:
CAIRO, 7 February 2010 (IRIN) - A controversial organ transplant bill expected to become law in the next few weeks could regularize organ transplants and curb Egypt’s booming illicit trade in human organs, experts say.

Hundreds and possibly thousands of poor Egyptians sell their kidneys and livers every year to pay off debts and buy food, making the country a regional “hub” for organ trafficking, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).

What is so wrong with giving a body part you don't need to another who needs it in exchange for some consideration (be it in cash, goods or services rendered)?

In many countries people give their blood plasma on a regular basis in exchange for payment yet there is no outrage about that. Why, because we can always make more?

Yet when someone with a failing organ desires to replace it with a viable organ to add years to their life and has the means by which to obtain it, people yell that they cannot be allowed to do that.

Why? Is it your life? No. Is it your organ? No.

So why do you care?

Would we protest if there were a way to grow new organs in laboratories? If that were possible, would corporations not demand to be paid for such products? Of course they would. They have a considerable investment in it and should be allowed to profit from it.

So how is a person any different from a corporation? They have a considerable investment in their organs. If they desire to make a profit by selling it, why not?

Take the instances of women killing other women and stealing their unborn children to claim as their own. Why do they do that? Because they couldn't grow one of their own and they can't buy one.

Think it's not possible someone would kill you for your heart? If someone were of the mind to do so and had the financial means by which to do it without the help of a major medical facility, I'd start watching my back.

Don't know if it's true or not but I've heard reports from China that prison inmates are being killed for the harvesting of their organs, which are then sold to the wealthy who need them.

Sounds ghoulish, doesn't it? Think you wouldn't resort to such a thing if you were days from death because of a failing organ?

Walk a mile in their shoes and then you'll know for sure.
