When a Lie becomes Truth Because It's Repeated So Many Times
There are some things in society and politics that just aren't true. Not factual.
But they are repeated over and over again until they become "truth".
For example, and I'm using the example because it just happens to be the first one that comes to mind, Sarah Palin never said that she'd be good at foreign policy because she can see Russia from her front door.
Tina Fey said that in a SNL sketch.
What lie repeated to become truth really irritates you?
Another of my favorites is that Kansas makes the best bar-be-que.... <Texan>
(I guess I've picked two lighter examples..... more controversial responses are welcome )

Kansas doesn't make the best BBQ, Kansas City does. As for the stuff they sell in Texas,

Tennessee and Alabama would disagree with you both.
Keeping it light: George Washington and the cherry tree.
Taking it ugly: Barrack Obama defiling Ronald Reagan's name by even using it in the same sentence with his socialistic plans.

Lighter side: Toads causing warts
Medium: Fuel additives that "Dissolve" carbon.
Ugly: Rush Limbaugh is the leader of the republican party.

Carrots won't improve your visual acuity if you have less than perfect vision. For example, a diet of carrots won't give a blind person 20/20 vision. But the vitamins found in the vegetable can help promote overall eye health. Carrots contain beta-carotene, a substance that the body converts to vitamin A, an important nutrient for eye health.

I have a customer who owns Bodacious Barbeque in Kansas City - I hear it's great Slightly different style - I need to make that road trip some day.
Let me add to the list:
1. The "rich" don't pay enough taxes.
2. The colonists purposely killed the native population with smallpox infested baby blankets.
3. Women really like to wear spanx and underwires.

Light and fluffy: No. Those jeans don't make your butt look big.
Not so light and fluffy: The bankers needed a $700 billion bailout or the economy would crash.
(This one was kinda truth/lie mixed together. The economy would have crashed, but only because the bankers were threatening just that. It was more an ultimatum than a solution to a problem. And the cost, as we've later found out, was much more than $700 billion.)

Carrots became associated with vision, particularly night vision, during World War II. The British Royal Air Force published a story that said skilled fighter pilot John "Cats' Eyes" Cunningham could thank a steady diet of carrots for his night vision flying prowess. Although Cats' Eyes' carrot eating made for a great story, it was, in fact, propaganda put out to conceal the fact that the Royal Air Force's was actually using radar to locate Luftwaffe bombers during the night.

Since my wife was in an evil mood and had the nerve to send me a tube video on tax deadline day, I think this thread is a good as any to share:

Yes... but it's not the quote about "from my front door" - and I think this interview was a kind of followup/clarification for all the grief she had been taking on this issue and the Tina Fey comment.

When a Lie becomes Truth Because It's Repeated So Many Times
"We're from the government, and we're here to help you."
"The rich must pay their fair share." (The top 10% pay more than the bottom 90%.)
"I didn't do it, Mom!"
