What happened to art?

I recently spent a week at a University in Wisconsin that is heavy into promoting and displaying art. Some of the art included a big piece of driftwood, some blue and white glass panels made into a big square with a metal frame and a big metal squiggly thing.

What has happened to art? I know of a local artist who does neoclassical work that is just divine - a little thought provoking and slightly macabre but truly genius.

This painting is one of my favorites ... tortured fruit.

And who doesn't enjoy Michaelangelo....

But .... I just have a hard time with this....

Was Pollock just laughing all the way to the bank?

Art is personal - nothing has happened to Art, merely a different genre of it.

I love Claude Monet, I remember to go to the Bellagion casino to see the Art exhibition "Impressions of Light". many other painters were exposed like Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot, Camille Pissarro, and Eugene Louis Boudin. It was organized in partnership with the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.

I had a great time over there, beautiful artwork.
