Military told not to read Obama-scandal news

President Obama has said the outrage over the federal government’s decision to monitor citizens’ phone activity is all “hype.”

Quote:
He might want to share his opinion with the U.S. Air Force, which is ordering members of the service not to look at news stories about it.

WND has received an unclassified NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) that warns airmen not to look at news stories related to the data-mining scandal.

Want to know how and why America has so rapidly come to resemble the totalitarian society described by novelist George Orwell in “1984,” one characterized by universal surveillance? It’s all exposed in a special issue of Whistleblower magazine – titled “ONE NATION UNDER SURVEILLANCE: Big Brother is watching in ways Orwell never dreamed.”

The notice applies to users of the Air Force NIPRNET (Non-classified Internet Protocol Router Network), which is the only way that many troops stationed overseas and on bases in the U.S. are able to access the Internet.

The last line of the executive summary states:

“Users are not to use AF NIPRNET systems to access the Verizon phone records collection and other related news stories because the action could constitute a Classified Message Incident.”

Cindy McGee, the mother of an airman stationed in the UAE, spoke with WND.

“The fact that our government is attempting to censor our service members from the truth of what is happening here at home is truly frightening and disheartening,” said McGee.

I don't understand, President Obama said a few days ago that the people are now mature enough on this subject and he welcomed an open discussion.

Anyway, it looks like what George Orwell described in his novel "1984".

What are your thoughts on this?

"They'll warn that tyranny is always lurking just around the corner. You should reject these voices. Because what they suggest is that our brave, and creative, and unique experiment in self-rule is somehow just a sham with which we can't be trusted." - Barack Obama

As the world becomes even more connected, more and more will be transparent, and there is little doubt what you say on the phone or post online will be viewable by someone.

Tyranny is when this information is used to control people.

If you value privacy over modern luxuries, you can always move out to the country, grow your own food, use only cash or barter, don't get a phone or internet, use solar panels, etc. You can even do this outside the USA, say up in Canada.

But as he said, one would hope people have reached a maturity level where they understand the information is out there, and somebody is going to be able to look at it.

Although, not always readily apparent, our government is also "captured".

I guess you have your own view on the privacy definition

The pattern is just there, some elements are worrisome like going door to door with a swat team to try to catch terrorists or criminels, taping everybody to caught a limited number of terrorists and the cost are trillions of taxpayer money and no privacy.

Is all of that necessary? And if you think it is, where does it end?

It ends when all of the terrorists are gone.

The cost will be everything.
You can never get rid of all the terrorists. There will always be more.
You will never be 100% safe. The war on terror was designed to never end.

It is absolutely disturbing what our government departments will do to insulate and protect this guy from any criticism or negative exposure.
Remember the email the official (can't remember if it was Wildlife & Fisheries or Department of Ag) got saying to say or do nothing to contradict the statements the Obama administration was making about how awful and terrible it was going to be after the sequester?

Nothing new ZAP, the war on terrorism started a very long time ago. They didn't use the words "war on terror" and "war on terrorism", but simply terrorism.

One can only hope that the war on terror will be as successful as the war on drugs has been.
