We need an Affordable Virus Protection Act

Do you have any concept of how many people must forgo the safety of AV protection because they just don't have the extra cash to buy an AV?

We need an Affordable Virus Protection Act because it just isn't fair to vast majority of Americans that they have to choose between a few cups of Starbucks and protecting their computer. People just don't have the cash to buy both.

The government needs to mandate AV protection for computers immediately and fund it through the AVP Act.

Think of how much nicer our world could be if every computer was protected. Gosh it probably would not cost more than a $1000 per year per computer for us all to have this peace of mind.

This thread was inspired by a discussion taking place over in this thread. http://www.v7n.com/forums/tech-suppo...ows-apple.html

Can I ask for your support on this important issue facing America?

There are plenty of free AV on the market that do just as well as any commercial suite.

No matter if you have free or commercial AV, it only comes down to knowledge being the best defense.

free ones are just as good as the paid AV, they simply minimizes the chances of getting your machine infected but its not 100% protection. plus thousands of people are making their living removing viruses on computers. so viruses are not entirely bad news. just my opinion

Avast! Free Edition is more than enough protection for most users, and it's completely free... It's not that people can't afford it, it's that they're too ignorant and/or stupid to google "free anti-virus"

I'll admit that for free antivirus programs Avast is the one I recommend, it isn't as good as some paid ones available but does a decent job.

There is a difference between free and paid by the way in case buyfb guy is still lurking
