Remember when they wanted to control alcohol consumption ?

If somebody , be it an 11 year old or 72 year old want's to smoke and finds no legal method of doing so , they will turn to the illegal ones . What that has to be done on this front is not to introduce laws that restrict , but to make the people aware about the pros and cons and let them decide ....

Otherwise , it would be like Government telling the people some thing like :- " You have not acquired the knowledge needed to make a sensible decision about this , so we are making one for you ".

This is just my personal opinion .

I'm not old enough to remember prohibition lol - but the war on drugs, well, that's another matter.

I read a study somewhere that showed that high school kids had better access to marijuana than to cigarettes or alcohol. Why? All 3 are illegal (pot for everyone, cigs and alcohol for teens) BUT there's a huge black market for pot, but not for cigarettes or alcohol. Keep passing laws like this one and a black market for cigarettes might spring up completely defeating the purpose.

I remember when I was in high school - I was a bit of a rebel - things that were forbidden to me "for my own good" simply aroused my curiosity, especially if the taboo seemed out of proportion to the health risks. I consumed alcohol, tobacco, and pot in high school, but no hard drugs because I believed those really were bad for me.

Again, education is the answer, not prohibition.
