NSA Actions Ruled Legal by Federal Judge

I couldn't find any similar stories on here so I'll share this news on here. Comments are welcomed.

On Friday, New York federal judge William H. Pauley III ruled that the surveillance and collection activities overseen by the NSA are legal, dismissing a case brought against the Director of National Intelligence, James Clapper, by the ACLU.

In his 53 page ruling, Pauley stated, “The question for this court is whether the government’s bulk telephony metadata program is lawful. This court finds it is. But the question of whether that program should be conducted is for the other two coordinate branches of government to decide.”

In order to defend the lawfulness of the NSA surveillance program, Pauley pointed to the intent behind the program following its..

Seems to me like Judge Pauley has over stepped. If the government is going to willfully violate/limit fundamental rights on an on going basis; which judge Pauley, according to this article, acknowledges they are doing, then they should have to do so through the legislative branch in an open and transparent manner that is subject to public input. It shouldn't happen via executive order or judicial fiat.

I wonder when we'll start to realize how hypocritical it is to send men young men off to die under the color of protecting freedom while we steam roll over that same freedom in the name of bureaucratic convenience and power grabbing.

It's amazing to me that people that violate some petty municipal ordinance can and do regularly end up in jail, while people that willfully violate the constitution seem to escape all consequences.

Just because a judge says it is legal does NOT mean it is. Though they act like they can, NO judge can change the meaning of the constitution.

When any federal judge says that any federal agency is acting lawfully while they violate your constitutionally protected rights, this is just proof of how bad things really have gotten in this country. The foxes really are guarding the henhouse.

The 3 comments on the article are spot-on. Unfortunately, techie-types (who tend to be more informed in such matters) are too few in numbers, while the vast majority of the population remain blissfully ignorant.

Thanks for getting my blood pressure up so early in the morning LOL

Everything Hitler did was legal.
That's what happens when criminals and psychopaths make the laws.
