You can be personally against something and still have a say on if it's legal or illegal.
It's not for me but I think it should be legal.

I came across a site some time ago (a couple years or so). I don't remember the site or the actual numbers, but what struck me was that Sweden was (at the time) at the top, or very close to the top of the per capita sex crimes charts. The explanation given was that most sex crimes were committed by immigrants who confused sexual freedoms with f***ing at will.
I'm for legalizing prostitution. But having said that, I have a chuckle thinking that wherever prostitution is legal tax authorities are de facto pimps

What about pornography? It's essentially sex for money, just on camera. It's legal.

...and what about the Hollywood casting couch?
Technically, the actresses are being paid for acting roles and not the sex, but, without the sex, there are no acting roles.

Further developing the issue... would sperm donors be within a gray area too? They do masturbate for money.

I guess that would depend upon whether or not the nurse gives the guy "a hand".

Well you know, someone might not want someone to know they are a virgin, so maybe they could use one and learn somethings, so they ain't so 'shocked' as they might be when the first do it. some people ain't as gifted or as open as the rest of us. so in a controlled manor it could be a form of teaching haha.

Sure it couldn't be head. The risk of loss of the goods would be far too great

I have never used a prostitute, the very idea just repulses me.
...and I have never used a female prostitute either!

I would never suggest that any woman do it, but I think laws against it are beyond the scope of government power, though they do tend to decide for themselves what's within their power.

I find sashimi repulsive, but it doesn't mean it shouldn't be legal for those who want to eat it.

I think you may have misunderstood me. It doesn't bother me whether prostitution should be legalized or not, it is the idea of finding solace with one that repulses me.

Yes, I guess I read more from your post that you actually wrote.
We seem to be on the same wavelength then.

Ethics is not such a simple thing.
Some people argue that eating meat (no pun intended) is unethical. Others would argue that sriving SUVs is also unethical.
It appears ethical to show results of military actions with dozens of dead bodies laying around. Why is that ethical, while showing sex is not? After all, IMO, both pornography and war are done mostly for money, regardless of the propaganda around either.

in an ideal world, this should be illegal... but in the real world, it cannot be stopped anyway, so maybe make it legal and collect some taxes...

I can respect that Mike; but whereas religious conviction can guide one's life, it should not always dictate laws. If that were the case, religious conviction would permit a lot of things that are currently illegal and vice versa.
