Thumbs down Teacher Grabs Kindergartner By Face

Quote:
Anthony and Autumn Nelson of Wharton, have two kids in Riverdale Schools in Hancock County. Their 6-year-old son, Ian, is a kindergartner. In surveillance video provided by the family, Ian on Wednesday May 7 is shown walking to the school bathroom. When he comes out a short time later, his teacher confronts him. She grabs him and picks him up against the wall. Seconds later, she grabs him by the face and then by the shirt. His head flops back as she picks him up off the floor. http://www.wfsb.com/story/25509189/o...rtener-by-face
ONLY ON 11: Teacher caught on camera grabbing kindergartner by face
http://www.wfsb.com/story/25509189/o...rtener-by-face

Please take a moment to watch the surveillance before responding.

I am blown away by the 10 days suspension. I do not understand why she was not immediately terminated. If you or I did that we would be arrested.

Something tells me that this will go viral and she will eventually be terminated.
Begs the question why it would have to go viral for that to happen, though.

The school put the teacher on a ten day suspension whilst awaiting the county sheriffs outcome. I would say the school already know that her job will be terminated but are just going through the motions, fair enough!

What isn't fair is how they kept this hidden and did nothing about it when the parents complained. This is now coming back to haunt the school.

Holy smokes! If I were that kid's parent I would be so incredibly angry. Suspension? Really? That's a joke.

That is ridiculous, Cricket. It's hard to believe the teacher would do that.

If the boy was misbehaving, then he should have just been sent to the office.

Why teach if you clearly don't like children? Maybe this feeds into the current discovery that boys are treated much worse than girls in school nowadays.

Now, if she'd been caught on film giving him a hug and showing him some affection or heaven forbid praying for the boy, she'd be instantly terminated.

I think it's despicable what the administration has done (or not done). A 10-day suspension does not do anything. If a teacher was able to treat a child in that manner, what does it teach the children in today's society?...that it's okay to grab someone by the face?! I hope the boy's parents pursues court for justice. This can harm the child's psych!

I don't like government schools to begin with, you can't trust every teacher unfortunately... the saddest stat i've seen this year is that teachers in American gov schools have the lowest IQ score out of all professions.

Where did you see that statistic? While I believe there are some goofy teachers in the world I doubt this.

Not sure about the iq thing, but there aren't enough incentives for the best and the brightest to go on to become teachers.

There should be capital punishment for violence against children.

No one who is heartless enough to torture a kid deserves a place in this world. PERIOD!

(You will never understand the above unless you have kids of your own)

legally the teacher can't just get "fired" on the spot. it doesn't work like that. employees are provided with a due process and there's a protocol the employer follows.

the ten day suspension is probablyjust to get them out of the building while the paperwork is done to have them properly fired.

it's not like it's burger king and you're firing a nitwit teenager from their part time fry gathering job.

100% true. at this point, there's no reason to ever be a teacher except having off in the summer.

teacher salaries are crap compared to the work they do, money they spend, and **** they put up with from crackhead parents and admins.

then at the end of the day, no matter how hard they worked, everything is always their fault.

you could have a junior in high school who skips 100 days out of 180 scheduled school days and who gets the blame? not the loser parent with no home structure, but the teacher. it's always easier to blame the lowly teacher.

teachers aren't ever appreciated. none of you would be able to communicate together if someone didn't teach you how to read and type, let alone code a forum software and create the Internet!

What exactly is an "American gov school" ?

WOW......teachers need to be reevaluated before being put in the care of children. That could have been worse.

The teacher should have been reprimanded and suspended for weeks. I think that everyone deserves second chances. If it happens again, then immediate termination should be done. Just my opinion, btw.

This happen last May 2014 right? I wonder what happened to the case? I bet the teacher got what she deserve. Suspended, license revoked or worst, got herself in jail.

Is there any follow up news for this?
