Well maybe when you spend your days being shot at and having people trying to blow you up, a little sense of humor is good for you, when you don't have family to lean on.

I think it's good for them, and so did the men and women on the military boards !! God Bless Them !!!!

I just think its silly, that's all. I'm all for having fun, so if they had fun, then good for them.

Do you have family or friends in the military?

I was in the United States Air Force in the 1970s, but only stateside, no overseas duty.

My father served in the Navy in WWII and was at Normandy France During the D-Day invasion, I have some stuff on his landing craft in my blog with actual pictures from his photo album. http://www.cocomilkcollectibles.com/vintagetimes-blog/ (I hope this link is allowed ?)

My father also served in the Air Force in the Korean War as a bomber mechanic.

My cousin was in the Air Force in the 1970s also, he was a military cop. And his father was in Nam in the Army and now has partial hearing loss from all the artillery action.

My Uncle was in the Army in WWII going door to door looking for Germans in Europe.

My husbands uncle was in the Army in WWII and was a prisoner of war in a German POW camp for a long time.

One of my cousins has a son who is currently "somewhere" in the Pacific on board a United States Aircraft Carrier.

Have a good one,
Linda

I meant presently , but that's cool. Lots of people in my family have been in the military too. All my uncles and grandfather on my mom's side, grandfather on my dad's side. Not my dad though cuz he had a medical problem and didn't get in (though he wanted to). And one of my cousins is in the Marines, and the other one is an Army lawyer or something.

Do you think it was the work of regular infantry? Or do you think the giant poster paper was supplied by someone who has a politcal agenda? I'm not asking a retorical question either.

In these times of sacrificing for the war effort*, I am disappointed to see that the troops did not re-use the banner GWB used so successfully. The one that said "Mission Accomplished" ... about 3 years ago ...

[*Please note mildly sarcastic tone ...]

(I've got many friends and relatives currently and previously posted in battlefield stations, as well as a long family history of military service, in case anyone wants to go that route.)

All photo-ops are suspect.

The majority of the volunteer military votes republican, so I'm sure the troops were able to come up with that one by themselves.
