58 percent say they wish the Bush presidency were simply over.

Bush [is now] widely viewed as an ineffectual “lame duck” by 71 percent of all Americans. 58 percent say they wish the Bush presidency were simply over.

He's a final term president with an opposing house and senate. They needed a survey to deduce this?

You need a survey to put a figure - a fact, some hard evidence - on a widely held belief, yes of course you need a survey.

He's a lame duck by definition of the word. They gonna do another poll to get numbers to determine that his hair is grey by popular consensus? And if 29% of Americans think a lame duck president can be effective with an opposing house and senate then maybe we are in trouble.

It's not even about Bush anymore. All eyes are on 08 and any poll that can make a party look weak, or clip that can be used to damage a party as a whole will be used. It's about to get ugly.

Yeah, for the past decades it's been ugly, how much more ugly can it get? Everytime when one thinks that it can't get any worse, it turns out to get even more insane. We are living in a Theatre d' Absurd.

I'm afraid this election is going to be a bloodbath. I used to look forward to election seasons. Now I dread them more each term.

If we continue in the direction we're taking....I can se our election processes looking like those crazy country power pulls with the people jumping up and down in the streets with guns.

Another "who the #@$ cares" statistic.
Actually, CNN reported 88% of all Democrats wish the president was out now. These numbers are such a waste of time. Like he's going to go, "oh my, 88% of the opposing party wants me out. I'll just step down now."

Let's see if we can come up with others that don't mean a thing.

100% of all crazed terrorists want people on airplanes to die.
76% of all dogs want cats eliminated.

Stats mean nothing, but how you interpret them does.

Bush is the most powerful man in the world, the leader of the most powerful nation there has ever been, commander of the worlds most powerful army ever...

...and nearly 60% of the nation that elected him, wish that he wasn't in that position.

That to me means something.

It sure does, specially when you know that elections in America are all about 'popularity'. The best man doesn't win any elections when he is not 'the most popular' and to become the most popular is a simple matter of who has the media on his side.

Thats life for you. The popular man always wins. It happens in schools, politics, everywhere. It's who can market themselves the best by visit the most states and making promises just for the support of the people.

Not for me. I live in a country that has laws to prevent this. These same laws are also responcible for the fact that a 'two party system' is impossible down here. Not that it prevents corruption, sadly enough, we too have plenty of that going on.

Just a note that the popular man didn't win in the 2000 election. The unpopular man won via electoral votes. :-P

gore: 51,003,926 votes
bush: 50,460,110 votes
the man who should have won (harry browne ): 384,516 votes

Anyways, happy to see his approval in the negative. Too bad that wasn't before his re-election .

continue on your merry way...

I did not know that the Netherlands has actually outlawed popular people being elected.
So what are elections based on, over there? Thumb wrestling? Hot dog eating?
Have you discovered a way to eliminate human nature?

Yeah, I am still trying to find out what you should vote on when your thinking
this way. if I vote for someone who says what I feel is the right derection we
should go in, then thats still based on popular opinion, which like he said is
ilegal. so I guess you have to vote on who you don't like in odrder to stay
free.

When I was in the Netherlands, I never heard of such a thing.

Zcoder....
