A frank and forthright Muslim!
M. Zuhdi Jasser is the chairman of the American Islamic Forum for Democracy and a former U.S. Navy Lieutenant Commander - I hope that he receives praise for his point of view and doesn't get a barrage of criticism (or worse) for blasphemy, or something equally as stupid...

EDIT: I should add that there of course many frank and forthright Muslims, you just don't hear from them very often!

Good read. Islam does have its nasty side, as we all know. But so does Christianity. Hearing a Muslim speak out against the fanatical elements of his own religion provides a good springboard for others. Hopefully that will happen. And hopefully non-fanatical Christians will follow this lead and speak out against the extremists in their own camp.

It is refreshing to hear a honest Muslim speak out about the realities of today's world. If more frank and forthright Muslims took action to denounce the radicals and regain control of their religion, everyone would have much more respect for them and there would be much less suspicion about their motives.
Unfortunately, given the realities of the radical Muslim world, one of his "Religion of Peace" brothers may just kill him because of his opinion.

Ok me and my sister are half Italian because my dad is full blooded. Anyway, my dad tends to travel every so often for work.. and always international like Brazil or France or something. EVERY time he goes to the airport he is always *randomly* selected for screening. It isn't random my dad has very dark skin and dark hair. My sister who is much more dark skinned than I am with very nice eyes and dark hair, people have yelled out of their cars anti-muslim slurs at her. She does in fact look Middle Eastern, I feel sorry for those that actually are and get harrassed on a daily basis. It's funny to my sister that she gets yelled at only because she is of Italian descent, but it isn't so funny when you realize what other people must be going through. They probably have it a lot worse than her.

Random selection for screening is nonsense, its Political Correct rubbish that requires the authorities to use this term. Everyone knows that its a sham. And rightly so.
If we currently had a problem with Terrorists and Suicide Bombers that all happened to be wearing blue shirts, then it makes some sense to concentrate on screening people wearing blue shirts!
OK shirt colour can be changed, but you see the point.
If we had a problem with terrorists called "James" then I would expect - hope - to be stopped at just about every opportunity. Annoying for sure, but I'd hate to get on an aeroplane having not been stopped!

I'm not a Muslim, nor do I look like I come from the Middle East.
On a recent trip with 4 flights, I was "randomly" selected for search and screening on 3 out the 4 flights. One of the security people told me that my ticket purchase triggered it because I bought my ticket a few days before the flight. I'm perfectly okay with that. She mentioned a long list of actions that trigger a search in the USA.
I totally agree that the random screening process is political correctness crap, but there are specific actions that trigger a search.
Aside from that, searches should be focused on those most likely to commit crimes. If this political correctness crap continues to run amuck, it will very likely be a contributing factor in the fall of the Western countries. Our enemies are getting smarter and are very effectively using it against us.

Just look at the tactics and new laws that are contributing to America's downfall... the enemy is proving their point. I hope a majority of Americans start seeing that American government (and trust me no other word can describe our type) isn't all that great. Because that is the only way it is going to change. As long as the majority is ok with more infringments on our rights in the name of protection the more and faster we are going to fall.

Terrorists want to create fear in order to make people 'feel' less free.
What the US government is doing is systematically violating people's rights and making laws to make sure that people actually are not free.
Smart politics, to make laws that gives therrorists what they want, a society that is not free with people who are afraid to do or say something wrong..
