But judging by the reaction I'm going to assume all Filipino's don't have a sense of humor and take everything to heart.

Funny thing is, last night I saw that chunky comedian lady doing a stand up act where she accused black guys of not having jobs, said any black guy you see with a cell phone is on pre-pay, made a joke expressing that black people all eat fried chicken, that Mexicans in America don't hijack planes because they're already here..and on and on in that manner. The crowd thought she was hilarious.
In the meantime you've got a bunch of (bored or confused) people howling over some comment made by a character on an insignificant sitcom / drama...whatever. It's laughable.

This is a funny thread, I think it's more comical than the TV show in question.
The TV show was produced to portray real life activities in a comical style. If I got upset every time I went to the movie's & heard a Filipino (Actor/Actress) say that ALL Americans are clueless & needed to be shot, My stress level would go through the roof.
It's a TV show - Get over it - and if it offends you that much, Don't EVER watch it again - By the way, Welcome to America where we have Freedom's That allow such comical references to be aired on Television.
It's funny how some people think the Movies are all Real & take everything so Literal... Lighten up & laugh a little... Geez

On a serious note, I don't doubt it. Americans seem to be more materialistic than many other cultures, and less family oriented and less social.

It seems racism means something different to each of us. It might be useful if some of you defined what it is you mean by racism.
For instance at what point, if at all, does a joke become a racist slur? When is a joke just a joke? Or is it a matter of each of us looking at the same object through different eyes and experiencing something different?
Thinking about this thread over the last few days and trying to define racism for myself, I have found it to be a more difficult task than I thought it would be. Is it just another form of prejudice, one based on race or does it have something to do with power and dominance, or is it just about dividing the world up so our minds can cope.
As human beings we are wired up to differentiate one thing from another. We are good at categorizing things, its part of what makes our brains so special. Perhaps racism is built in to our very natures? I hope not, but if so, we really have to overcome ourselves.

Good post...
To me (Personal Opinions & Theories), Racism is a combination of both participants - The one making the joke or slur & the one that hears it.
You can break this down in several formulas, each one depending on Both individuals Psychological stability, Upbringing, Level of Education, Sense of humor, Etc....
just a couple examples:
A African calls another African a Niger (In a joking form) - High majority -Both seem to accept it as natural & may even smile.
A Caucasian calls an African a Niger (In a joking Form) - Low Majority - The African now seems to be prepping for WAR as the Obvious Anger & hatred builds.
A Frenchman tells his Japanese friend of 3 years that his eyes got that way because he was stuck in a rice picker as a child (In a joking form) - High Majority - Both seem to accept it as natural & may even smile or laugh.
A Frenchman tells a Japanese man he just met his eyes got that way because he was stuck in a rice picker as a child (In a joking form) - Low Majority - The Japanese man now seems to be prepping for WAR as the Obvious Anger & hatred builds.
Hmmmm... Maybe it also has to do with how long we have known someone as to whether Psychologically the person is able to accept it as a joke.
Or even stemming from some form of education that seems to only be focused on Past historical events, causing the individual to Psychologically think that they are still in that time period & that the world has not progressed learning from that bit of history.
It seems Psychology plays a majority in most my examples & theories, so I have to lean on it being more of a Physiological imbalance. I suppose I could go further into analysis & maybe test to see what side of the brain someone uses primarily & compare it with the anger & discomfort levels obtained when hearing a questionable joke. This may provide more psychological supporting data in the matter.
I'll put something together & post a test on another tread in the near future to compile some brain data (Based off how individuals See things).

I had a thought the other day of opening up all of my posts and copying them so that I could maybe spread them out some how to get an idea of just how psychologically off I might be, or appear to myself. I'd get to preview a bunch of my thread titles at once too, when I went to the "find all posts by" page.
