What can you say about RACISM in US
This cine of DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES that really shock the Philippine community in US.
Teri Hatcher, told her doctor: “OK, before we go any further, can I check those diplomas? Because I would just like to make sure they are not from some med school in the Philippines.
Inventor: Doctor Fe Del Mundo is credited with studies that lead to the invention of an improved incubator and a jaundice relieving device I hope you notice this.
I cannot blame them because even there own citizen black American African who give theme much honor in Olympic receive more discrimination than other race in America today.

I see NOTHING RACEST about this, this has to do with STANDARDS of where someone gets their training.

No, I just do not know of any accredited schools who sell diplomas. Accreditation in the US not a matter of bribing some guy with free rickshaw rides.

It seems racism means something different to each of us. It might be useful if some of you defined what it is you mean by racism.
For instance at what point, if at all, does a joke become a racist slur? When is a joke just a joke? Or is it a matter of each of us looking at the same object through different eyes and experiencing something different?
Thinking about this thread over the last few days and trying to define racism for myself, I have found it to be a more difficult task than I thought it would be. Is it just another form of prejudice, one based on race or does it have something to do with power and dominance, or is it just about dividing the world up so our minds can cope.
As human beings we are wired up to differentiate one thing from another. We are good at categorizing things, its part of what makes our brains so special. Perhaps racism is built in to our very natures? I hope not, but if so, we really have to overcome ourselves.

Good post...
To me (Personal Opinions & Theories), Racism is a combination of both participants - The one making the joke or slur & the one that hears it.
You can break this down in several formulas, each one depending on Both individuals Psychological stability, Upbringing, Level of Education, Sense of humor, Etc....
just a couple examples:
A African calls another African a Niger (In a joking form) - High majority -Both seem to accept it as natural & may even smile.
A Caucasian calls an African a Niger (In a joking Form) - Low Majority - The African now seems to be prepping for WAR as the Obvious Anger & hatred builds.
A Frenchman tells his Japanese friend of 3 years that his eyes got that way because he was stuck in a rice picker as a child (In a joking form) - High Majority - Both seem to accept it as natural & may even smile or laugh.
A Frenchman tells a Japanese man he just met his eyes got that way because he was stuck in a rice picker as a child (In a joking form) - Low Majority - The Japanese man now seems to be prepping for WAR as the Obvious Anger & hatred builds.
Hmmmm... Maybe it also has to do with how long we have known someone as to whether Psychologically the person is able to accept it as a joke.
Or even stemming from some form of education that seems to only be focused on Past historical events, causing the individual to Psychologically think that they are still in that time period & that the world has not progressed learning from that bit of history.
It seems Psychology plays a majority in most my examples & theories, so I have to lean on it being more of a Physiological imbalance. I suppose I could go further into analysis & maybe test to see what side of the brain someone uses primarily & compare it with the anger & discomfort levels obtained when hearing a questionable joke. This may provide more psychological supporting data in the matter.
I'll put something together & post a test on another tread in the near future to compile some brain data (Based off how individuals See things).

I had a thought the other day of opening up all of my posts and copying them so that I could maybe spread them out some how to get an idea of just how psychologically off I might be, or appear to myself. I'd get to preview a bunch of my thread titles at once too, when I went to the "find all posts by" page.

Sad, pathetic, humorus, and true to a point.
Haven't read all of this thread.
Had a uncle that was probably toasted in one of Hitler's ovens for saying that what they were doing was wong. He didn't give any details but the family never saw him again.
I like to believe that there is just one race the Human race. We have many cultures but only one race.
Had a friend who put Human in the other catageory for race on his college application so they put him in as Hispanic and he got a scholarship for Hispanics.

Teri Hatcher said this in one episode of the "Desperate Housewives" and it is clearly a racist statement about the medical proffessionals in the Philippines.
Did the writer of this show did some research? Filipinos are known for their world class talents in different field. They didn't deserve to have such comments like that.

Not at all. Racism deals with race. The Philipines are not a race. They are an ethnic group.
Blacks - race.
Whites - race.
Asians - race.
Philippines - ethnic group.
And, if anything, it is an "ethnic slam". Like suggesting that Nigerians are involved in Internet scams, or that Canadians can't pronounce "about", or that Americans don't know how to vote.
