Libraries: a cave where genius abides

Libraries: a cave where genius abides

If you find no library card in your wallet or purse you are not a self-learner. You are at best a dilettante, a dabbler in knowledge.

A self-learner has a multitude of clamoring questions, in a multitude of domains of knowledge, seeking answers. To discover the nature of reality and the answers to these questions one must have access to a library of books.

Most colleges have a ‘Friend of the Library’ card, which, for a small annual fee, will allow anyone to borrow books from that library.

After schooling is over the experience of learning begins. I think that the first step toward becoming a self-actualizing self-learner is to acquire at least one library card.

Public libraries are not just for kids on field trips.
Public libraries are so much more than a book storage facility.
Public libraries are places where people from all walks of life are welcome.
Public libraries are wonder-filled places where people of ignorance can find genius, a place where the homeless can find shelter and where the educated can find inspiration.
Public libraries smell like knowledge and taste like wisdom.
Public libraries are truly beautiful from the inside out.
Visiting public libraries often and for long periods of time is a modern form of respecting our elders.
Humanity is summed up in the content of the written word which can be found in a public library near you.
To study the masters from within a public library is a humbling and awe-inspiring experience for some people.

The line I used to entice my girlfriend into becoming my wife; "My library card has recently been renewed."

Forget having just one library card! I have several library cards to different libraries in my state. Then again, I'm not quite normal and I do work in a library.

Right now on my desk I have two books over 100 years old on my desk (1892), a stack of Business Automation magazines from the 1960's, and some photography magazines from the early 1900's. I've also got a new book on stock options too cuz I wanted to read about that.

There's something for everyone! Libraries are truly a cool place if you like to learn things.

who needs a library nowadays? lol!

since the vast spread of internet connections, people are now slothful to visit libraries. All they need are some keywords and Google will take care of it.

hmm.. but that's not my mentality when I was still in school. I might be different to other students but I still go to the libraries, yeah I have 3 different library card. One was my University Library Card, the other two were for the City Municipality Libraries. Well, the thing is I am a Political Economy student then so when I needed some data on population and some statistics, i diligently go to some municipal libraries or a particular agency of the government library to search what i need.

essshh... that was tough though.. but worth doing!

I had many happy hours in Manchester Central Library studying for my English Lit. exams. And researching life in 12th Century Norway for my never-to-be-published novel. It's a cool building too:

I've often thought I'd love to be a librarian. I applied for a job at the University of Manchester Library once, but they rejected me because they said I was 'too mysterious'. I still don't know what they meant.

Oooh.. pictures! That looks like a cool library Rank.

Here's the entry way to the dept. I work in at my library. I love it. Marble floors, brass fixtures, and cool artwork all over = http://www.fbscompany.com/images/Cle...%20Library.jpg

Oh, and here's the outside of it. It's the two buildings shown in the pic. One has 5 floors, the other 10 floors.

Then we've also got 28 branch libraries and a library for the blind, but that's a whole different ballgame... and they don't look half as cool as the main branch that I work at.
