Well that's the thing. They have figures for two of the variables now, the other variables we have to make educated guesses, but they will be guesses until we have more evidence to base them on. If you take the pessimistic view through the equation then you are left with just us in the Universe. If you are even slightly optimistic the figures change quite drastically.

When I tried to guess the equation resulted in 13 Million planets with intelligent life in our galaxy. That's from 200 billion stars. And I wasn't being overly optimistic.

But until we find one other we are just playing with numbers, and that doesn't answer the question one way or another.

Actually that's quite optimistic. And it's not called "pessimism"; it's called empiricism.

That's John's video, he posted it in this thread first, I simply re-posted it at a later time in the thread.

Sounds interesting. I'll have a look after I wake up a bit.

I haven't had a laugh like this in weeks. Great entertainment, and interesting as well.

Whatever the thoery the scinetist believes in, they still have the problem that nothin + nothing = nothing and no matter what they do or how they try to twist the math's, it always = nothing.

For a complex system like this to work, you would need a force or some sort of energy, be it to push the particles together, to make them bond, to cause so much heat within then that they explode apart and end up into what it is today, a force is always required.

With the creation principle, they call that force God. Of course to a lot of people, that is completely unbelievable but then again the science principle works on the nothing + nothing principle and also a random force of somekind just evolving and then the begining.

And science can not use maths in it's favour to justify a begining as the maths seems to go out of the window when it does.

I give you two articles. Not proof of anything at present, but they explain a bit more of my 'belief' that there is life out there.

The Telegraph: Aliens really do exist!
"Prof Glenn White, of The Open University and Rutherford Appleton lab, said: "We are pretty sure that we will have an extremely high probability of telling you whether life has started on a planet. By around 2020 we will have very definitive answers.""

The Telegraph: Alien life signs on AA Tauri
"Vast amounts of water and simple organic molecules that are precursors of the building blocks of life have been found in the dust and rubble swirling around a young star similar to our own sun."

I disagree. They are proof. They are proof that the scientists have absolutely no proof of alien civilizations. Because if they did have anything that remotely resembled that, they would be writing about that instead of some pathetic hope for alien life.

You don't find unfulfilled hope to be pathetic?
