Is Grandpa Bad for the Environment?

Everyone's always talking about how an aging population, with more retirees, is going to wreak havoc on Social Security and the federal budget. Here's my question: What impact will that have on the planet? After all, my grandparents don't seem to care much about global warming, their refrigerator is from the 1970s, and they use an awful lot of air conditioning at home. Give it to me straight: Are Grandma and Grandpa bad for the environment?

Of course grandpa is not bad for the environment. At least not mine, he's helping to fertile the soil. I guess you can call my grandpa Dr. Green Thumb. Making trees stronger, helping the grass get greener, and also making sure that the flowers can always grow.

No really, all my grandparents are dead already. But for those who are still alive, I think it sound preposterous to say that they are bad for the environment. War and hatred, is what's really bad for any environment in my opinion. Mother nature can always find a way to compensate for what we do to the planet. But that which we do to each other in our hearts, and by our own wills creates the good/bad choices/actions.

Creating death, bloodshed, terrorism (open or hidden terrorism), and hating someone because of their race or religious background is what's truly harming our planet. These are all forms of terrorism, in my opinion.

You are supposed to read the article :-) The accusation made by some people is that the increased population of Senior Citizens(Grandpa) is causing an increase on the country and the world's resources. The findings of the article though state that in fact the senior population actually has a lower impact so in fact no, grandma and grandpa are not bad for the environment.

My grandpa's gas was certainly bad for the environment....he would say he stepped on a duck and then ramble on about how the doctor told him to "let it out." He was very bad for the environment. ; )
