Reassess your host

Recent trouble with regard to working with a host company is teaching me to access host company(s) very carefully. I am just moving to a new host now, BUT I am a little concerned if they will provide the level of quality service I read in reviews. I am also a little concerned if they can continue to provide the level of quality service I read in reviews currently in the future, like a year from now, even 6 months from now. So my question to v7n members is this; how do you and how often do you reassess your host? Working with a host company is not about setting a server or two at the beginning but it's about a business relationship, right? And possibly, it can be a long relationship?

Of course it should be a long term relationship. Customers should not have to jump from provider to provider unless something significant changes. (major change in operations, outgrowing existing hosts abilities, etc)

Worrying if a company can provide a specific level of service for 6 months or a year in advance is going to be a very troubling thing to do. There are so many potental factors that could affect things like this that can be totally out of the control of the owners, managers and even employees with the hosting company. You should pick someone you feel can grow with your needs.
