Need to Rent a Webmaster

I've got a vhost account with root access and need to do some things in Apache that are beyond me - Can anyone recommend a 'rent a webmaster' service that is trustworthy and professional? I found one but I don't like the looks of their site - doesn't inspire confidence. Or does anyone here want to discuss a some very minor consulting work? I just need some modules installed that I've been told are easy to do.

The difficulty may depend on whether the modules are there and just need to be enabled or if they need to be built and installed from scratch. If you provide more information about what you need installed/enabled then we would be able to help you better.

Are you the manager of the server or do you simply have a shared hosting account with someone? If your on a shared box then you should probably talk to your hosting company if you need to have some apache modules installed.

If you manage your own box then as QT_ said more information about what modules, etc would be of great help.

There are two things I'm trying to get going. One is Mod-Rewrite, and it is not installed, although it may be on the server (but maybe not). I can't even find where got get it but I have found the doc pages in the Apache.org site. The other is ImageMagick, and I have downloaded them to the server but got stuck at a place in the install instructions which is the equivalent of putting the installation in the 'path' statement (to use a dos/windows analogy) - I can't figure it out and don't want to screw with UNIX I don't understand.

To answer the second question, this is all on a virtual hosting account I own with root access to host multiple domains. My hosting company (interland) won't help with installs on these types of accounts - I guess you're supposed to only buy thing if you know what you're doing. I don't but wanted the capacity/features so I bought it anyway.

- Thanks

What version of apache are you running?

Quick google search found this for ya.

http://www.apacheweek.com/features/modulesoup

One of the easiest ways to install imagemagick would be to use the RPM for your build of linux. If your running redhat you can find the various RPM's here.

ftp://ftp.imagemagick.org/pub/ImageMagick/

Just click the linux folder. ImageMagick has some dependancies and it looks liek most of them if not all are also included for download at the FTP site.

I've got what they call VPS Root, which is 2Gigs space, 50 gigs transfer, up to 50 domains - I pay $79 but now it's $69. I use cheaper hosts for other stuff, but these guys answer the phone at 3am and while sometime furstrating are generally 1st class.
