Need a reliable webhosting company!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hello everyone,
I really need a reliable web hosting company for our non adult sites.
All the hosting Co. we ever used has been pretty BAD (over 5 in 1 year).
I could rely on the fact that our sites will go down at least 3 times a week.
Is 95% uptime too much to ask? I’m even looking into dedicated server as well.
Does anyone know any background info on 1&1? These guys are offering pretty cheap solutions but why? What I found was no on here in the U.S knows anything about these guys.
I also did research on Rackspace.com and those guys want $$$ and a right eye.
HELP. There are too many of them that promise the world and no one is delivering the service we are paying for. If you are using a stable and reliable service right now please share with us. It’s like finding a needle in a haystack… No joke.
Thanks in advance.
P.S. if you are hosting companies do not reply.

Im hosted with http://www.darkstarllc.com/
So far no downtime at all.. You could get a package from them or then just get a server from the same host as they use

If your site doesn't have very high requirements and your budget is rather low you should try out ICDsoft. Their servers are slow sometimes, but they've never been down, as far as I remember.
BTW I was with them for like a year.
If your site has higher system requirements and your budget is larger v7 Inc is pretty good. The servers are fast and there hasn't been any down time.
Cibok don't you own darkstarllc?

Very odd and confusing thread over at WHT. Looking like darkstarllc was using somebody else's design and claiming to be a co-founder of EV1. :
Somebody enlighten me.

Try http://www.scriptgods.com for fast, reliable, and easy-to-manage hosting. Check the website for current prices and promotions.
Our most popular plan for $9.95 per month includes hosting of 1 domain, 1 GB of total space, 50 GB of transfer, and up to 50 user names / email accounts. Those are just a few of the benefits. Check out the site today!

hahaha.. can i re-tract? In all seriousness I started using them 2 years ago and have never looked elsewhere. Lots of good companies, Modwest is only one of them.
Thinking of which.. I should get kickbacks from em for talking so highly about them. I think I will have to point this thread out to John Masterson at Modwest.

5 bad companies in 1 year is an awful track record for sure. I think you might be going about finding hosting the wrong way. Making the price point a significant factor your going to end up with those companies that often overload the servers at bargen basement costs. If your charging less than everyone else you gotta pack more on each box to turn a profit.
I strongly suggest looking at V7inc.com In your first post you said

And I think JohnScott's integrety in keeping with your wishes should speak volumes for their profesionlisum. (damn cant spell today)
I have 5 websites on V7 servers and downtime is not something I think about because it just does not happen on any kind of regular basis.

yeah i have to agree with Fish. Dont base your hosting on price and you wont have this problem. I never base hosting on price and I never have hosting problems.

I am new to the forums. I have been with a company in NY called TWS Hosting ( www.twshosting.com) for about a year with zero downtime, even through the black out back in August. They have good pricing and their support staff is great.

Im not sure what all that is about, but the design of darkstarllc.com is unique and not stolen. As far as I know, ICTHost and DarkStar isn't the same guy. Also, I don't think he is co-founder of EV1, darkstarllc.com is just hosted by EV1 servers.
But whatever!

All of the hosting companies that sell low-end accounts -- the ones under $5/month with 5+ Gb transfer -- make their money from overselling. All of them, including mine. That's because $5 for 5 Gb is about the wholesale cost of bandwidth, and the cost of bandwidth is only a portion of the cost of running a host. Overselling is like overbooking on an airline; most of the time it's ok, but if everybody actually shows up for a given flight, somebody gets bumped. If you want performance and consistency, expect to pay more. If you insist on signing on with the lowest-priced provider, it's kinda dumb to complain about the result.
Rackspace charges more because they deliver more.

$1 per GB is not even close to the wholesale cost of bandwidth. But everything else you stated is exactly on par. We oversell, but not not nearly as much as everyone else, and we also don't fill our servers to capacity to make sure everyone's sites are stable and fast.
Also, the thing with ev1servers and our design being a ripoff is a complete lie. This situation happened with one of our resellers, not us. If you go to http://www.darkstarllc.com you'll see that we have a unique design, thanks. =)

Try this search on Google:
cache: http://www.icthost.net/
I do that and get darkstallic. Looking at the whois, it looks like it was just recently changed:

Just curious why the ripped site would be parked on your domain.
You guys aren't affiliated with Gavin Hanson?

No, we are not "affiliated" with Gavin Hanson. He was a customer of ours, nothing more. I am not entirely 100% sure why google's cache shows our page, but I can promise you that he is not an affiliate. We suspended his account and told him to get his sites moved immedietely.
Yes, it is a lie that we were impersonating ev1 servers and ripping off designs. The situation that was being discussed happened to Gavin Hanson aka ICTHost.Net, one of our customers.
Hope that clears some stuff up.
