Kind of like they're paying others to give them crap, eh?
I don't believe I'd be giving my hard earned (ok, my not so hard earned) money to someone just for them to give me crap in return.

I was reading through a few of your posts, as I host with Rackshack aka downtime.net (also known as ****shack.net). Anyway I have had my share of problem just like you were facing during the first year I was with them (now 3 years ago). I had so many problem, and spent so much time on the phone with them. I absolutely hate that company yet I am still with them. Why? cuz they are so cheap and I have absolutely no problems with their network. I only had one problem since I have been with them as far as the network.
The major problem I had concerned one of my servers with them, which was a piece of crap. Always crashing, repeately. Then a friend of mine signed up and his server crashed every 2 hours. It took alot of work, but we were actually successful in getting a refund on them, because I logged an instance with a tech in which they broke their own contract with us. So we had one up on them which was how we were able to get the refund. The trick is to find something that they did wrong and to have proof like we did. (I had recorded the mIRC session).
Anyway ever since that point I have never had really any problems with them. As long as you do not depend on them for any kind of service, and do not have to communicate with them you should have no problems. However, if you ever have to deal with them, good luck. I swear their techs are hired right off of the street / McDonalds, and the majority of them have no clue what they are doing. From the few times I have had to deal with them for technical reasons, I had to explain to them how to solve my problem as they had no clue what they were doing.
I highly do not recommend this company unless you are absolutely able to run your own server by yourself. Also you have to be highly aware of what kind of load you put on your server and I recommend monitoring it 24 / 7. I was so tired of all the downtime I was facing with this company that I wrote a script which would automatically ping my servers and check that the httpd port 80 was working correctly. Whenever a problem exists my cell phone will beep very loud and I will be able to get right on it as fast as possible. Usually having to submit a trouble ticket for a reboot.
Lately I installed another program which monitors system resources and if anything gets ouf of limits, such as load exceeding a certain threshold, warnings get sent to my phone and I am able to get on it before serious problems occur.
Anyway all I am trying to point out, is that if you choose to host with this company, it better only be because you like the price. There is nothing else worthy with them. The company is also broken up into many departments which run different areas. And the funny thing is that they are not able to communicate with each other very well. In other words, accounting, sales, tech support, abuse, etc are completley isoloated from each other. This can make it extremely frustrating in some cases since you have to work with multiple departments in a few occasiions.
During the time that I was extremely frustrated, I had taken the time to draw up a few pictures to help me feel better. Check them out, they may help:

Have you looked into ServerBeach at all? The support is great, and the referral program can be very, very friendly. ($100 per sign up to both the referrer and the referree.) With the kind of sites you run, it might be worth your while to check into it.

I haven't really checked them out before. From what I can tell they look descent. I need more than 700 gigs though. Do they have larger plans? or what do they charge for additional bandwidth? I am still looking, not finding it yet.
Ouch I just saw after you use your first 3 trouble tickets, you gotta pay for more? I have approximately 300 trouble tickets with Rackshack, although many of those were because they sucked.

Oh, on the trouble tickets - only if it is your fault. All the standard stuff is covered for free. I never once used a trouble ticket I needed to pay for.

Well here is my old MRTG graph if you are curious:
http://207.44.222.45/mrtg/
As you can see that is way over 700 gigs a month. If that link does not work its because they pulled the plug on the server. It is working at the time I post this as they haven't pulled the plug yet.
I had 4 servers, just dropped two of them today and bought one new more powerful server which will end up saving me money

You could ask about extra bandwidth in the serverbeach forum - http://www.serverbeach.com/forums/

Dual Xeon? I want one of those. Or, I'm thinking about a 4GB RAM box from RackForce.

I like how they let you custom build a machine.

Yes I got the Dual Xeon 2.0ghz, 1 gig DDR ECC ram, scsi hard drives, 1200 gig plan. Beats paying 450 a month for the 10mbps plan.

Sweet. Let me know how it works out.
BTW, you use those all for yourself or do you sell hosting?

I sell hosting too. So far its working out great with the new server. I have the majority of my sites on a seperate server. I decided to go with Cpanel for my customers this time, and its much nicer. I had Ensim before for them, and I would have to say Ensim sucks. Extremly slow to add / edit / remove sites, and it was just a pain.
