Sorry about your trouble with RackShack. It's quite common on the Internet, though, for a company to be greedy to the point of being unethical. They figure that since they never come face to face with their customers, they can screw you over.
Fortunately, the Internet is a community just like any offline (regional) community, and word gets around.

You know, reading over this, it reminds me of something. I kept trying to cancel my RackShack account, and those greedy scam artists wouldn't cancel it and kept billing my credit card. But today a guy contacted me, a V7 customer, and said he had wanted to cancel his account (no longer in business) two months ago, but he accidentally sent the email requesting cancellation to PayPal instead of to me.
So I cancelled the account for him, and refunded two month's of payments.
Funny how different V7 ethics are from EV1. Like night and day.

Another thing I noticed about EV1 is, they listed a lot of servers on their site, but then like half of them are always "sold out".

Hi JohnScott, remember me?
I have a bad experience too.
I just cancelled my ev1 account today, after several days of problems. I want a refund, but I don't think I'll get one.

Hiya MrLeN.
Long time no see.
EV1 sucks. Better to learn that lesson now and get out of there, than learn it later and have a bigger mess to deal with.
Try ServerMatrix or ServerBeach. I use both and couldn't be happier.

Kind of off topic here, but I noticed this thread has been viewed almost 9,000 times, and I know several people have left EV1 because of it. (I know because several of them have used my affiliate link and signed up at ServerBeach. Love those $100 credits that I get each time somebody uses that link to sign up at SB. )
I wonder if those EV1 retards wish they had just refunded my money?

This crap reminds me of something that happened about 2 years ago. I had a client that needed a dedicated server but was a little of the cheap side.
So I decided to get him a box at rackshackkkkkk.
Man what f----- mistake that was. Took 4 days to setup with cpanel, then I fianlly got it. The damn thing came with 1 ip, believe that crap. Who in the world gives you a server with 1 ip.
So then I call them and request 8 more ips.
Holy **** a act of god!!
Finally after 3 days of trying to get some ips I finally gave up and told them to cancel the damn thing.
Really was the worst experenice I have had since I have been in the business except for maybe one other place. That place tried to put a backup site of mine on a server that maintained a load of 25 to 30.
They said it had so much ram 1 gig loooooooooool that the load was ok.

I had AOL (even I am disapointed in myself for that)
it was hard to get that SCUMWARE off my computer. worse yet I let a friend use it while I was on a med run and his wife reinstalled AOL on my computer ... reactivating my account so I got charged for her using my computer. my friend being cool and all was too cheap to pay the bill.
I even gave him instructions before he took the computer... I told him to throw it out the window, set it on fire, do whatever...just do not install AOL ... and he did - what a...
