Dell Dual Xeon market size

I'm wondering what the market size for Dell Dual Xeon dedicated hosting is. I was talking with a dedicated hosting company about this and they thought the market just wasn't there.

The cost would be about $499 per month with 1000GB transfer. Pre-installed cpanel / webhost manager.

i personaly wouldn't buy it. you would have to be running some high end sites to ever have the need for it.

Right now we got a few hundred domains spread across several servers, each at $150 to $200 per month. We could probably put all those sites on just one Dell Dual Xeon.

These are the same servers that LunarPages puts 1,000 plus sites on. PowerEdge 2650 with 4GB of RAM.

possibly. with 4gb ram that wouldn't be near as bad. i am not a big fan of cramming hundreds of sites on one server though. Would it still be cheaper if you were to get say the dual xeon, and maybe a P4 that is a lot cheaper but still has the room as a mirror server just in case the dual xeon needs to reboot or crashes? i always am a fan of backup servers, especially if you are wanting to put everything on one.

Problem with mirror servers is, if you corrupt the data on one drive, the mirror drive data is also gonna be currupted. Right now we back up all the data from the Linux servers to a windows server every 24 hours. The windows server is used just as a back up server.

So, I'm not a fan of mirror servers.
