Problem with server speed?

Alexa claims that my site is Very Slow and here are the stats :

Speed: Very Slow (99% of sites are faster), Avg Load Time: 10.0 Seconds

My site has overall 55Kb. The biggest file is a big logotype with 25Kb.

Are these figures at least a bit reliable? Because if the average load time is actually so high, I am definitely loosing visitors.

I have checked the website with tracert.com from a few destinations around the world, and response time was between 50 and 250ms.

I am hosted with Server Beach and since I moved from Rackshack I am experiencing slower response times from Slovenia (My Location). I haven`t tested other locations, I have no previous data available. When I use FTP, sometimes the connection hangs itself, reporting an error saying Socket Has Been Lost.

Any ideas or suggestions would be highly appreciated.

Luka

I would suggest you contact serverbeach support about this issue. If your server is in the VA datacenter (your IP starts with 69.44) then there are a few known issues with some of their upstream providers that they are working on this weekend to solve. Infact there is quite a bit of work going on with the VA datacenter on March 14th.

Yeah my server is located in Virginia.

Damn I did not know that this is a known issue. How come they have not dealed with this earlier? I have been with them for about half a year now.

On 14th March they will upgrade the rapid reboot system and emergency IOS upgrade. Any idea what exactly is this update?
