Managing a dedicated server

I will be needing to a dedicated within the next month just as school starts back up. I would like to know if its difficult to manage one. Anyone suggest some decent places to research the necessary information for managing a dedicated server

To manage a dedicated server is a regular and 24/7/365 days activity.

Firstly you need to secure the server with firewall, securing tmp etc. Then comes monitoring and regular security updates, backup setup(Remote backup), kernel upgrade on the server.

There are many companies which offer managed dedicated server I feel that will be a better option.

Not something you want to learn to do on a production machine.

Play around with linux at home, learn WHM through reseller accounts if you plan to use cpanel. (I would makes it easier but doesn't do it all.)

In the end you need to atleast set it up the first time properly...

Its main purpose would be to run proxy sites. I believe I found a managed one that am going to try out.

Managing a dedicated server can and should be a full time job, especially if you are not using a very secure operating system.

There are still many dedicated server provider offering free management with the dedicated servers, a quick search in google would definitely help you a lot.

Great to know! You got the managed one. Too much headache to manage a single one, those are just initial bumps though.

Well looks a lot like (G) has updated how they get the invalid click results. Seen several posts about people getting 30+ or X amount of clicks with zero payout so seems they are sorting that issue as getting that many clicks a zero payout to me says those were invalid but not something you could control. So long as you dont violate there TOS should be no reason to get banned. Main issues for proxy owners were people clicked there own ads paid for traffic and had zero content on the sites also possible victims of the click bot using proxy{dot}org

You are right about the issues with Google. However, I used to own and operate several popular proxies over the past couple years and the main problem is the sites hotlinking your site and abusing your proxy. Eventually you are constantly working to ban IP's with no end in site.

Case in point take a look at Proxymouse.com I started and sold that site a couple of years ago and the owner of it has shut down the operation of the proxy script because he was hotlinked to much. I also shut down my last two remaining proxy services proxydetective and proxyjet because of this issue. So make sure you are prepared for this.

Good luck and I hope it works out for you.

The option may be to get server management from the third-party.

Most of the times people who have serious online business hire 3rd party firms or personal employees to manage their servers / networks. Its normal and I know better because my team specializes in such things.
