How do you find the price for such config?

Hello!
I'm looking at this offer:

# Pentium 4 Processor
# 512MB DDR RAM
# 10/100 and GigE NICs
# 80GB Mirrored Storage
# 150GB Data transfer
On the provider's web site (http://globaltap.com/dedicated.html) it has price for $99.95 for such configuration. What do you thing is st expensive for such config.
And I think that price on dedicated sever depend not only on confi but on the service and quality as well. I know Globaltap as decent provider and thats why I'm asking about the price. My personal point of view that quality service must be little bit more expensive.
And what about you? And what you think about that globaltap config?
Thank you

That is not powerful config. But price is right for me. And company you have chosen quite experienced one. To be honest I have heard about Globaltap.com as dedicated server provider only while they are providing bunch of other services. Anyway if you need such config - go ahead - price is right.

Probably you can get it slightly lesser than that. This is a very basic config. more like a VPS except for storage. But price depends on service, support server management and lot of other factors other than just server configuration.

Very well said. But I think that you have nothing to worry about. Globaltap.com is very reliable dedicated servers provider. I believe they was given awards and their awards speak for themselves.

After looking through GlobalTap.com dedicated plans, I dare say they look O'k for me. Prices are not very high. But there is one thing that I can't get - redundant a active/passive and active/active server configurations as a standard option. What does it mean?

In terms of redundancy:

Active/Passive means you have two servers, a primary and a secondary. The primary is the server you use everyday. The secondary server is a cold standby in case your primary server encounters issues.

If the primary server does encounter debilitating issues, your hosting company will often manually transfer your services to the secondary while the primary is being repaired.

Active/Active means you have two servers, a primary and a secondary. Both primary and secondary servers are online and often clustered so when one server is updated, so is the second.

In the event of a primary server failure, the secondary will automatically kick in. As all information up to the failure has been shared between the servers, the secondary is able to just pickup where the primary left off until the primary can be repaired.
