I've used it for high-end CAD workstations and can tell you that it is the fasted, most efficient OS for this type of graphics heavy work.

If I'm not mistaken Solaris is a UNIX version based on both System V Release 4 and SunOS, designed by AT&T and Sun collaboratively.
As I understand Globaltap.com has started it recently. Think of trying it.

Globaltap.com provides their Solaris on the same price as Linux and FreeBSD. That's why I think Solaris has the same features as the mentioned platforms. But the one thing that must be paid attention to is the performance of Solaris. It's much faster than any other one.

If you are familiar with this OS so go with the host. But not go only because they have solaris. make sure that they give what you are looking fore and that can be handle by your budget

I've had a good run with Globaltap.com - it is really stable company which you can rely on. The system overall has improved in stability by utilizing Solaris Containers to distribute services on virtual OS. And for day-to-day system administration, it really helps.

Solaris is another UNIX version. If you are familier with Unix/Linux, you wont have much trouble.

I know that Globaltap.com has skillful support staff which will explain you everything you want. You will find out the availability of their systems administrators and send them a support ticket and see how fast they respond.

He seems not familiar with that, so I would recommend go with managed solution then
