$25 Contest Will Maybe Lead To More - Cartoon Character Needed

I am looking for some designs for a children's book.
This particular contest is just to see some designs so I can see what's out there.

I need a completely original work.
I am looking for a purple turtle to put into a PDF book that I will give away for free.
I will award the $25 to an entrant here at V7N, regardless.
But I reserve the right to use or not use the final design however I see fit.
If I choose your design, then I will need a further 8-10 scenes (the turtle within a backdrop/background of some kind) and the $25 will be paid immediately, but applied to the total cost of the entire project.
I'll let you know in advance that I would like to pay around $150 for the finished book, so please keep that in mind before entering. There is no profit in this book for me. It's personal.
If a suitable design is not offered, then I will award the $25 prize to someone of my choosing and that will be the end of our relationship.
I will leave this contest open for two weeks (March 14th - 11:59PM EST) because it is important that I find the right design, but I reserve the right to close the contest at any point for any reason.
Payment will be via Paypal only.
The book (and illustrations) will be aimed at 2-6 year olds.
Something with a Dr. Seuss or Disney feel to it would be ideal, but, again, this must be an original work.

Any questions, post them up and I'll answer them.
Looking forward to seeing some designs.

is it possible to tell something about the story so people can draw the cartoon turtle around it. such as drawing it on four feet or two feet, wearing clothes, something about the actual character such as nice, kind, or clumsy, nerdy, or such would help. As much detail you can give about the character as possible. after all it is a character you chose to base the story around so.

I won't be entering this contest because I don't have adobe illustrator at the moment but I will try and enter something but maybe for the rest who will enter.

Sure. It's a female baby turtle who's just been born (hatched). She speaks with her mother about being purple. It's a pretty short story. I imagine it takes place in a grassy field somewhere.

Either will do, but the finished product should be bright, colourful, digital format pictures that can be easily inserted amongst text in a PDF document.
Kids like bright, colourful pictures to accompany their stories.
JPG or GIF format is fine for this thread, but I will want the original Illustrator or Photoshop documents when this is all completed and finalized.

Looks a little rough.
If you like i will clean everything up
And also add some shades if you like.

I like the overall design, Evo. I really like the style of the turtle.
Can you show me the purple version of the turtle with the other half of the egg, all lying in the grass, under a blue sky with a couple of clouds?
Would that be OK?

I like this one, Evo. I think the clouds should be white, but I like the transparency on them and think you should keep it in there when changing the colour.
