$350 Logo Design

Hello everyone.
On studying what sort of threads yielded best results, I have decided to setup a logo contest for a project of mine. I have had my brother make a sketch of what we need for our local team mascot logo that I will attach to this post.

In accordance with the forum rules I will provide the information required.
Colors need to match the teams uniform color and design so browns, blacks, maybe some golds. I can give you the color hex to be accurate If you require it later on. It will need to be 300dpi or higher for print. PSD or AI ready for print.

I will give a week after a designer has been picked to complete the design. I am not very difficult I just want something that looks good and resembles the sketch I have attached.

The prize is $350 USD. I understand that something of print quality usually may cost more, but I am providing the initial concept you need to work off, so it is really just cleaning it up and adding some detail then color. That is it. I don't want you to come up with a concept of your own, just add to what we need.

Payment via paypal.

I want to see what you guys can come up with for an initial outline perhaps of this logo, something to give me an idea that you are the one I would like to complete it. So please as the rules state don't take too long on this and spend too much effort because I will only pick one person to finish the design.

i would like to keep this thread open after I select a designer for correspondence and to have it public so they are held responsible for any shortcomings. Or maybe also through PrivateMessage, but not email.

I hope this meets the forums rules, and I ask all designers to do a great job and good luck!

I'll give this a shot and have something for later today.

Just a few quick questions;
  • Are those the character dimensions/proportions you wan to go with or can I adjust/edit them a little?
  • Are you going for a Wolf form, or more of a dog/hound form?
  • Maybe it's just me but I feel like there's extra scribbles around the lower jaw area, to the sides too, do you want that slim or give it some volume?
  • You want the final version to be a detailed illustration with heavy detail or a cartoon like airbrushed comic finish? (consider raising your price to say 400-500 if you want something heavily detailed/realistic looking in a sense.)

Guy, feel free to adjust it as you like, the concept you see is just what I want.
A dog/hound, yes.
No I think it is the rough nature of the sketch but if you can do something like maybe put a nice collar around the head or add something to make it a little more unique, you can decide, but it is fine to just do it as it's there.
cartoon logo not so much tinny details no. Solid colors here is an example http://www.shutterstock.com/pic-1680...o-and-any.html

Let me know if you have any more questions and thank you for taking part Guy, I was hoping more would have too by now.

Here's a watermarked preview of something I found time to make last night. There are a lot of things i'd personally change but I stuck to the initial sketch as best i could considering the rough state it was in.

(ps - excuse the odd watermark )

Guy, that is amazing! Very nice, not at all the quality I was expecting either, much better in fact. I'll wait another day in hopes of others participating, otherwise I'll gladly have you complete this project for me.
Thanks very much for taking part Guy. If you end up completing it I would love to see what changes you're referring to and where you would take it!

Nicely done Guy!

Hmmm... I might have to throw in a little competition if there's still some time.

Okay, here's my mock-up. I just sketched it out so it's a little wonky.

[removed]

I opted for something other than the open-mouth-screaming-at-me look and went more for a dropped head, ears back, aggressive-teeth-baring. I'm actually a little put off by the open mouth look. And in the initial sketch, with all the hair sticking out wildly, it's almost freakish! lol.

Very sorry for missing that HTMLBasicTutor, I'll pick a designer in say another day. so 24hours from posting this reply. I think that should have given anyone interested more than enough time to create something.

That is incredibly creative Jay.M. Thanks for the submission, but really wanted to stick with the sketch, and open jaw. The sketch seems hairy but it does not have to be that hairy. But I like your concept a lot, I will run it by my brother in a little but I am confident that he will also want to stick to the original concept. I want to say though I like the eyes more in Jay/M i know they're not like the sketch but more black around them makes it look better.

I edited mine a little, and I'm providing a larger example to better compete with Jay's entry. For the record, I'm basing the changes on your above comments rather than Jay's entry.

Made an open-mouthed variant. Added a few new details (take'em or leave'em) just to change things up a bit (:

Again, keep in mind this is purely a rough-up - no vector, just pen.

Thank you Guy and Jay.M for your entires. We want to go with Guy on this one as he followed the initial sketch and made it better, thank you again Jay.M, you're very talented but we are just in need, as described in our brief above of someone who can take our concept and not change it too much.

Please keep this thread open so I can openly communicate with guy and have this Thread serve as a public record as I'm new here, so is Guy and I don't know him yet. Nothing personal.

Minor revisions before we discuss color. Please add an earing in the ear without the bite mark, also in the middle of his forehead we would like a small tear drop shaped line not a tear more like a strand of fur but as a tear drop. Also maybe add a few drops of saliva flying out of the mouth like in Jay/M's concept? But more subtle please.

As for color, those I described above in my first post are still what we would like to see.

If you require partial payment of prize money before continuing let me know thank you Guy.

I'll make the necessary changes later today and post the colors I have in mind for your confirmation.Out of respect for Jay.M I will not do the drool as per his illustration but add a drop or two around the jaw, mine already has that and when it's colored in, it'll become more obvious. I just don't want to take something out of his illustration and force it into mine as that's neither ethical nor professional in my opinion, not that you intend it to be either of course, just clarifying while i'll figure something else out instead.

Here we go. Drool, Earing, and color.
If you need some minor aspects edited, let me know.
I also added that flame/tear drop/fur strand thing you mentioned.

First I'm very sorry for the late response, was having to attend to a family emergency.

Guy, that is amazing. It truly exceeds what we were expecting to get out of this contest.

I think we're good to wrap this up, if it's not too much to ask, and if it doesn't require too much effort and time could you make the colors a little lighter in general and just make the eyes glow a little more?

Also please let me know where I can make the payment out to as I'm more than satisfied, and please PM me the source files, preferably with a lighter version, but this will do.

Amazing work thank you again.

Payment made and files received, thank you very much Guy for the professional work.

Mods/Admins: please remove all instances of my logo above and lock this thread, if that's not too much trouble. Thank you.
