Whatcha got against question marks? (Or do you have some shmutz stuck under your question mark key? Compressed air'll get it out. ;-)

The kerning in that typeface you're using leaves a lot to be desired. Check out the space (or lack thereof) betweeen the "U" and the "I," then look between the "K" and the "E." Weird.

its just the font which makes the letters so close... ill see if i can make it a little clearer...

Hey All!
I'm really sorry I haven't been responding to each post as I said I would - I didn't think there were going to be any responses because I mentioned it being on hold & I never got any notification emails oddly.. Anyways, since it looks like some people have entered and I like some of the work, I will keep the contest up and extend it so I can give feed back and allow others to join who didn't want to because of the hold.

Deadline: Sunday, September 10 @ 3 PM (PST).

Also, for deciding the winner, if there is a close vote by the members of my site, I will put the designs up for a vote on v7.

Here goes comments:

@rettu: the designs are not personalized to the site or uphold the general branding style of the site.

@AAZZ: I like the use of the orange and the bodybuilder. the CF was cool but did scare me because of its reaction lol. not much branding there & i think people can determine what is the name/email/url.

@jonsimons: cool cards however, red isn't quite the color we're going for. no bullet style for the "features" on back or branding (like use of logo).

@nic88: i like the simplicity but not the solid colors, i am finding that i like utilizing a white background like in my example biz card. the bubbles are a cool design but don't quite fit & the heart makes me immediately think dating service although i know it is intended at the health aspect.

@imaginemn: i really like the top entry. i found im not fond of the greys/blacks etc or other solid colors tho, i like the use of white background. there will be no address too. the apple is great and works with the colors on the card, some type of fitness/bodybuilding image would be nice too somewhere or in place of *shrug*. a backside would be nice for the features.

@Scimble INC: i like the work with the orange circle. i tend to stray away from solid colors like grey/black and other non whites as backgrounds tho. not as much branding.

@nic88 (the black ones with stripes): cool designs & good layout of info. see other comments about solid colors. no branding though.

@DaveyBoy: i really like the layout & branding, use of colors etc. possibly put the "Fitness" "Bodybuilding" "Nutrition" "Weight Loss" somewhere else and sample text for features along the bullets. different tiny images inside the orange circle for different features maybe would be cool to replace the bicep in each one. (forum [*friendly forums], gallery [camera?], journals, profiles) - see the why-join page. also, i dont know if it is just my browser, but when you are viewing the thumbnails of your attached images, it looks like the light orange on top & bottom is slightly textured which may or may not look good when enlarged.

Some general notions that came to me:

• i like the use of white backgrounds (not other solid colors so much).
• simple images are more aesthetic it seems (i'm not artist tho).
• branding is important
• for the backside with features, bullets look nice. see comments for DaveyBoy
• look at others' comments for tips/recommendations/ideas

Thanks all for your entries so far, they are looking fantastic, i hope that the time extension is nice for you so that it is a free-time sort of thing instead of another task on the list.

aside from this list i actually have a designer that i was going to work with on this and some other things, but a contest sounded fun & is a way to give back to the community here for work that others enjoy in the first place

if you think you can do better than the others, submit to the contest i'd love to see your work.

@MrBlogs: I love the design, it looks very professional & techy. No branding tho with logos & colors. Seems a little dark for the site, if a background is used to replace the dna, something bodybuilding or nutrition wise would be good.

@rettu: not as personalized to the site (colors, logos etc). im still straying from the two color / black / grey look. if a person graphic is used, it might want to look a lil more muscular

@nic88: nice enhancement. no integration of logo or as much branding. maybe the person on the side could be more muscular, the lady does look in shape but not top of the line. still leaning away from the blacks, i like the use of uplifting colors such as on the site/forum etc

@JuggoPop: Looks fab, great branding/use of logo & colors. if your art mind sees any way to integrate the "features" like in DaveyBoys that would be rad. (i dont want it to disrupt the over all design because i like it but maybe you could see a way). great use of the biz card i like too

@nic88 (entry in post #33): better use of branding colors & parts of logos. see other post about blacks. might be nice if arm part of logo was left in tact & nearer to name. nice clean layout. might be nice if parts were more rounded instead of square

@DaveyBoy: Still great branding & colors. love the bullet points, very nice. good clean layout. nothing i can see doesn't fit the site maybe an image ? don't want to ruin anything nice tho so it is at your will - looks good

@jonsimons: new design has better colors . no branding / use of logo. maybe some more variations of orange? less white space would be nice. features: *friendly forums, + *fitness profiles
