$150 Header Contest

I need a new banner, I actually need a new website, but I am going to do it one piece at a time – I am NOT art-sy or creative….

Type of Contest : Website header contest
Prize :$150 via Paypal (Stocking Stuffer Money…)
Contest End Date & Time : December 15th 5PM CST
Size Requirements : Width between 760-820px , Height 80 – 130px
Color Requirements : Colors reminiscent of sunrises, ocean and sand, prefer blues, oranges, yellows....will consider all designs
Format Requirements : ..psd (Photoshop files) and/or jpg (with and without text please)
Designs:: Would prefer ocean or sunrise setting, not opposed to palm trees or dolphins or pelicans or lighthouses…..sandcastles or something that suggests “FUN & SUN in Daytona Beach Florida”. Created image or if you have a photo that would be a good fit, you could blend it in….I am looking for something “FUN”.

Gina ( @ designmygetaway.com) did this for me and is no longer doing websites….(*sob) and I am trying to somehow muddle thru this one without her…..I loved her use of color – the ribbons and the way she created a new shape to the site with the header….I have used this design 3 times and want to try something new…..

She had no part I my original design for [url removed]

Like the dolphins, but the background to the right reminds me of a satellite shot of ice, does not remind me of sand....makes me feel cold....

I haven't ever done this before, so what kind of feedback should I be giving?

I am not sure if it is OK to recommend a change or if that is insulting...
I am thinking that you guys want me to steer you to what I like, but I want to make sure that is what I am able to do....

So designer feedback please...on what you guys expect from me.....

of course it's ok to ask for changes - it up to the designer whether or not they want to do it. As long as the comments are respectful it is fine -

Kristee,

I like the addition of color.
Will not be placing navigation in the header (next contest??)
Would love to see that little palm tree circlular logo more prominently displayed.
