V7N Worldwide 30 Day Walkabout Challenge
As people who usually spend way too much time on the net, we all know that we need to get off our tushes and walk more, so I figured it was time for our first 30 day worldwide walkabout photography challenge.
All ya need to do is grab your camera, go for a walk, and take some pictures. Now I don't care if you use some fancy DSLR, a pocket camera, or your cell phone, just start shooting the world you see around you and keep uploading pictures to this thread. We would love it if you would tell us about the pictures you are sharing too! By the end of 30 days, we should have a nice collection of pictures from around the world and some exercise out of the way too!
It's not important how far you walk. If you just feel up to walking to your mailbox today, that's fine. Heck take a picture of your mailbox while you are there. But get your tail outside, enjoy the fresh air, and start photographing the world around you. Don't be digging through your old pictures, only upload new pictures taken on any walk from today forward.
Some shots I took on my walk today. =)

You've got a good camera and a helluva good eye for topic matter and composition... so I wont pretend to compete with you... but I might at least take a better camera along for this challenge as long as being on horseback counts as "walking".
[To be fair it is still exercise... ask anyone that doesnt ride a lot just how riding makes 'em discover muscles they didnt even know they had until they hurt.]

I will definitely count horseback as I remember how much my muscles hurt after a long ride. Just don't fall off.

For today's photo walk I was off in search for signs of Spring. I definitely wasn't disappointed.
Yeah, I know I should show you this one in full living color, but I liked it better as a black and white picture.
Even though Palm trees are pretty much green year 'round in South Texas, this little one seemed to be showing signs of Spring.
The walk was going pretty well until I spotted this CVS because I knew I could pick up fixin's for a Purple Cow there. Does that cancel out the benefits of my walk today??

If y'all are not interested in taking part in this challenge please let me know. I had originally planned this for my own blog, but decided it would be so much more fun if a bunch of us were involved. If at least a few people aren't interested in this though, we can close the challenge and I will do it on my own.

Don't Close it...
I am going walking on my next day off :c)== but I took some photos I call "Drive by shooting" - My drive home at night the shutter stayed open a bit long- (That's Austin at night at 40mph) - The other two are the changing Austin Skyline (nice pretty new "tallest" building in Austin - forgot what it's called). - The last one was a bird in the bush in my front yard before I left for work. - enjoy :c)
Cricket, yer Photos are fabulous and inspirational - I can't wait to see the rest!

Some of y'all are making this challenge way too difficult. It is not something you have to carefully plan, nor do you need to spend a lot of time doing it. Heck, you can capture a lot of beauty in a 10 minute walk. And ya know what? It doesn't matter if it is sunny, grey and ugly, or snowing like Spring will never come again!
So what do you do on the dark ugly days?
When everything seems sad and grey?
And, no matter how hard ya try, ya just can't seem to find any color?
You relax and wait for that moment the light peeks through, find the beauty, and capture it quick.

I love the one with the flags. Sort of dreamy.
I meant to take a picture today, but forgot all about it. Perhaps tomorrow.

The pictures are all stunning! I must get a good camera! I walked outside the office yesterday and took some shots from an old digital camera. When I saw the pictures posted above, I felt a bit awkward to post mine. I might ruin the whole thread if I post a not good looking picture... I'll get a good camera and see how will it be.

Took a digital camera out on the trails today... dismounted to get shots of some of the odd treasures out there. The area has been home to pig farms, a rendering operation, and suring prohibition at least one whiskey still.
The trails surround Grapevine Lake, which was filled in about 1951... flooding a lot of farmland mostly owned by the family of a freed slave named Bob Jones (as well as a cave that was a known hideout of the outlaw Sam Bass). The location is a few miles from where Bonnie and Clyde gunned down a pair of highway patrolmen.
Jones (no relation despite the name) was a very successful local businessman and went from slave status to eventually owning around 2000 acres in what is now a strip running from the city of Grapevine, thru the top end of Southlake, and a large part of the city of Trophy Club. His wife was the daughter of John Simpson Chisum (a Texas cattle baron... the guy the Chisum Trail was named for) by a slave he'd bought and later married.
There are all kinds of little treasures out on the trails if you look around. Some of these are found on private property adjacent the trails, some in property incorporated into the trails. Cant always tell which you're on as the fencing is largely old barbwire on ancient cedar posts... so boundaries are iffy. [Also means you have to watch out for barbwire on the ground and hidden by foliage.]
Have located a number of old foundations, one burnt out house that belonged to one of Bob Jones grand-daughters, remnants of foundations of houses long gone. Have also located a number of probable parts of one of the fabled whiskey stills, and an area where there's an amazing collection of intact mason jars all the same size that probably were once intended to transport the whiskey to market. There are thousands of them.
Another cool find... an auto chasis converted as a cart... the wheels have wooden spokes and a Buick hubcap. Another... an iron or steel wheeled sit-on style plow. Great place to explore.

Better hurry... fixing to sell and move... this area's got too many "citiots".
Ran across a recent news article where one of the grandkids of Bob Jones (his name's Bobby Jones, he's the epidemiology doc for Tarrant County TX) was out there looking for evidence of the old windmill that marked their homestead just recently. The gate he wriggled thru is about 50 yards from my mailbox. See Dallas Morning News story

The point of this challenge is NOT the quality of the pictures. We are just having fun and sharing the world around us. So don't wait. Share your world with us!

Okay... Here's my try:

I always see these plants every day on my way home so I decided to take some shots.

View from the street next to the building where I work...

I walk pass these buildings every day...

Jeepney, most popular public transportation in my hometown.
