Use Videocamera as Webcam

I have a friend who is trying to use their Canon videocamera as a webcam that can be viewable online. Is there a code I can use or some type of program that will allow them to use their videocamera as a webcam online?

Well my video camera came with software to do that, just plug in the camera, open the software and bam your all set. So check the disks that came with the cam.

The camera is going to be connected to a Windows machine, so the last two might work. I'll have to try it out and see.

Well,

first they will need a capture card if they have a non digital vc. If they have firewire or USB attached they are ready to go.

Plug it in, run the free Windows Media Encoder, http://www.microsoft.com/windows/win...r/default.aspx (Watch the firewall) (remember the ip and the port it shows you), if your ip changes all the time, just get a free DynDNS.org account.

embed a standard windows media player script to a webpage and add the mms://youripnumber:portnumber into it. your broadcasting.

There is a 5 second delay by default on your end, you can change it.Your ISP probably has a 5 sec delay too (default).

basically the same thing with the cami progs, most just tap into the wme or real producer.

The camera connects via a firewire port, and that works. I'll have to see if the media encoder works. Thanks for the info, I'll have to try it.
