10 Steps To Taking Your Own Simple Stock Photos

Quote:
Bad stock photography is a cliché, there’s nothing worse than going to an “about us” page and seeing a bunch of people in suits with telephone headsets who all look really happy.

Good stock photography on the other hand has a lot of value, the downside is that it’s often very expensive.

Today we’ll be looking at a few simple techniques which you can use to photograph things on a pure white background so that they can easily be used in almost any web design project under the sun.

There’s no need to spend a lot of money when you can create some beautiful simple shots with a little time and creativity.

Ok, everyone get their cameras out and try this. How did they turn out?

This squeegee channel is silver, so it kind of blends in. And I have a bit of a shadow to the left of the handle... "try, try again."

Nice squeegee shot. I hope to find some time to play over the weekend.

I got as far as clearing the dining room table today so I can try this out.

Attached are some practice shots from back in Jan while I had things set up to take pictures of some large gifts. The background is a blue table cloth draped over some cardboard boxes.

Cool article

I thought this was a cool article and very helpful. Learning to crop your images is very important and should be on the top of your list. I am not sure why a flat white background was not used though..it is easier to edit out without straggler fibers popping up around the image. Great share.
