Digital Camera
I was pretty much finished with Christmas shopping, but am now considering buying a digital camera for my wife (I can use it sometimes for web stuff and write the purchase out of the business account).
I know nothing about digital cameras. I really want to stay at or under $300. Is it possible to get a decent camera for that or would I do better to just wait and spend more later?
Any advice would be appreciated. Again, I know NOTHING about them.

I'd say a digital camera with 5 megapixels or more is good enough for anything. I have a Sony Cybershot, but I think that's more than $300.

I can recommend Sony cameras too, I've had a few and the ones with the Zeiss lens are top performers, very clear and sharp pictures.

I still have my Sony Mavica FD75...
It suits my needs beautifully and actually uses floppies to store pics!!
Amazingly, the images are as clear as many 5 megapixel cameras. I don't know how they do it, but I like it, all the same!

Sony P200
I have a friend who got one at dell for under 300 dollars. It takes 7MB pics and easily fits in your shirt pocket. Takes decent pictures. But be warned that once you get to a resolution like this on a small chip you will see Chromatic Aberation in areas of great contrast. Very fun with a movie featutre built in. Get the Pro version of the memoy cards. You will need to buy memory card. try something in the way of a half a gig or bigger.
For reviews you can go to dpreview.com.
Best of luck getting one (whatever you pick).

I have a 256 card, which is easily enough. The only problem is, the photos are like 2-3mb each with Cybershot, which sucks if you don't have the space. Also the video mode, in high quality, is like 90mb for a minute's recording. Just a few drawbacks, but the advantages far outweigh the disadvantages.

I have a cybershot. I love it. So many people say the pictures I take with it are great quality.

0K Basically the cameras are measured in megapixels. Dunno wat todays standard is. But anything over 4 megapixels should be good
