Taking pictures of farms in Florida may become a Felony.

Wake me up and tell this was a bad dream. The Florida senate, SB 1246: Farms, wants to make taking a pictures of a farm a class 1 felony. I can't figure out why unless it disturbs the illegal workers?

<First paragraph snipped >

17 produces images or pictorial records, digital or otherwise, at
18 or of a farm or other property where legitimate agriculture
19 operations are being conducted without the written consent of

21 a felony of the first degree, punishable as provided in............

I thought the hanging chads were bad enough. Looks like some of the <censored> are still in power down there.

Looks like the mass meat producers finally got tired of the exposure and greased a few political palms.

I can surely understand the part of not stepping foot on the property without permission, but a felony?

And, since when can't I take a picture FROM public property?

Looks like Google better stay out of Florida now, huh?

I highly doubt this will be enforced, except in the following case. It seems to be a tool to prevent reporters from getting footage of conditions on chicken, beef and pork farms.

Since July 1, 2011 in Florida if this passes.

I completely agree about the trespassing part, a felony is severe but I could even learn to accept that; however anything I can see from a public area is fair game for the lens.

What are they doing to those oranges? What deadly chemicals are they spraying? I may have to boycott OJ also.

"Farm" and "Porn" doesn't sound too close either.
No wonder Earth is shaking... *shakes head*

Hope Jim Norman had plans of this being his final term, cause this albatross of a bill will be hanging around his neck forever. There's no coming back from proposing something this blatantly silly.

Yeah, I thought that too. Either way this won't look good on his resume.

I would think the cruise lines would lobby against this bill. Princess Cruises, Holland America and Carnival all have a lot to lose if people boycott the state because of this idiotic law.

I once thought about some of those high dollars businesses I arrested people for doing...

Now I can think about the "farm pictures"...
Run my digital camera directly into an iphone......snap and shoot...and send....
But who the %^%&* buys pictures like that....

Do not see how this can be constitutional.....
I have met some real idiots in my many visits to the state capitol, years ago..But this...

And I just got some new shots of a mama and baby gator....
