There is no one best camera. You have to define what you wish to do and the options you would like have.

Canon and Nikon are among the best ones. Leica are like the Ferraris of cameras.

Personally I would call the Nikon D3200 the 'best' camera.
My reasons for this:
- It is very good value for money for a DSLR, coming in at under £400 in some cases.
- It is a perfect entry-level DSLR camera with enough features and options to fit the beginner photographer.
- It fits better in my hand than other cameras I have tried (including entry-level Canon DSLRs, which some have recommended here...). If you buy a camera which doesn't fit comfortably into your hands, you're not going to enjoy using it for very long.
- It's a highly rated camera which can be seen from the many positive reviews it has received.

The D800 Nikon looks good to me. The reason I like this camera is the performances and the reasonable price for this type of camera.

Highly dependent on your level as a photographer.
If you are a beginner, 600d may be sufficient.
If you are a professional even 5dmkIII may not be enough.

The best photographers out there would say:
"The best camera is the one you have with you."
You don't need a fancy and expensive piece of equipment to get good pictures. A real photographer could just shoot with his smartphone and produce excellent results.

Most of the times is the one that you have .
Some of the best digital ones are the ones made by Hasselblad

if you go semipro like, I would definitely take canon. the raw format of canon you can open in photoshop. the raw format from Nikon is not created to use in photoshop.

It all depends on what you need it for . I like Nikon D7000 or D5100, they are both great cameras.

I am not an expert when it comes to photography but I think the best camera for me is Nikon D5100. It's good for beginners like me. It's price is reasonable yet loaded with advanced features. It's also less technical and easier to learn compared to other cameras.

Many suggestions coming in but Maja didn't mentioned yet anything about what features he would like to get in the particular price range. I really wonder how you guys can suggest him the better one to pick up??

I think the Canon EOS 1D Mark IV is the best for digital photography because the clarity is unbelievable! It has 16.1 mega pixels and is also very compact.
