Sweet photo. What a cutie.

For anyone curious, one of the easiest/quickest ways to lighten a shot is to use curves. Another easy way is to create a new layer of the shot and then select "Screen" from the drop-down menu. With this option, you can set the opacity of the layer to help determine how much lighter you need to go.

In turn, if you need to darken an image, curves work here as well, or the layer option but select "Multiply" from the drop-down menu instead.
