Here's an example of a feature photo essay published in a magazine featuring a complete set of some of my Nakamura work. One thing I want to stress is that even if you take photos that are good, the final presentation of those images can really influence how people see them. You need to consider eyeballing color proofs, being meticulous with cropping, creating a good layout or getting someone to do the layout for you, and picture flow.

Presentation matters.
