My first DSLR

And I am extremly excited! Especially since it will take all of Minolta's lenses back to 1985 I hear.

I'm using this puppy for textures and stock images for my graphics

Sure.

Here's a shot of one of the walls I finished painting today in my office.

I shot it raw too which was AWESOME!

Crappy shot though.

Trying out the macro. It's okay, but definitely need a macro lens.

This is a character I made for a short film, it was in stopmotion so he's posable. Well the head/neck is anyways. The rest of the body, er.. cart, got trashed. I think I'm gona rebuild it anyways.

Love it... did you actually finish the stopmotion film or were you in the middle of it?

Oh, yah. Finished that in 99. You can see it here. Take it with a grain of salt as it was my first short

Yeah originally it was meant to be a series so that was ep1.

"The Soundproof Mouth Project is an interactive film serial where you, the viewer, get to decide what happens next. After reviewing suggestions, the next episode is created using the input from visitors to the site."

There was a website that went along with it and I sent out hundreds of dubs around the world. Unfortunately, the concept just didnt take off and I needed more interest and people to take it to the next level. Which would be the only reason to do another, really.

And, of ourse, I'd hafta rebuild the sets. Since then, they have gone the way of the fireplace.

Plenty of false starts on new and different projects but I've got a ton of material so something will come up soon. So yeah, I guess I have been there and done that.

Thanks for checking it out, glad you enjoyed it.

Here's some screencaps. The live action stuff was shot on a Canon Hi8 and by the time I got ready to animate I was shooting on a Sony DV.

Thanks for the compliments Taltos!

I committed to the project in the summer of 1997. Over the course of the next year I did all my writing then shooting live-action and conceptualizing the stop-motion sets/characters and building Mojo.

I wrapped up the live action stuff, in, hmm.. late 98 I guess. I took a break while I worked my but off to upgrade my camera for the stop motion and to buy a special svhs desktop editing machine that was capable of recording single frames. At this time I was building the sets and characters and doing all the research I could on stop-motion and building a website. All that finally wrapped up around mid 99. Edited, built the site then released for Jan 1 2000.

I gave it a re-deux two years ago for a film festival near here. I re-edited digitally, as I had cut it tape to tape before with some minimal work in VideoWave. And I got the chance to create the opening sequence I had initially envisioned, plus upgraded a few sequences with Mojo. Using cg. Previously, I used a live action shot of another model I made, for the satellite.

It certainly was allot of time and money. The shoot-out sequence in Horton's alone cost me over 2k but I committed to having high production value so I had to hire professionals. The entire budget for the short worked out to about 15k. Plus a whole lot of blood, sweat and tears.

But it was a freaking blast to experience.

Thanks again

Wow, 15K for about 8 minutes! Now I know why I haven't tried that That's a serious commitment but it has to be pretty cool to watch the finished product every once in a while! I could tell there was some serious money involved because you had the full on squibs and all for the shootout. Nice job!!!!
