Color drops

I've been itching to do a shoot like this for a long time but I'm not happy with it. I think this is one of those shots I'll need to get back too as I get more/better equipment.

It's a good start but I would suggest it's too contrasty and flat looking. I can imagine this type of picture can be quite difficult to get right.

Thanks for the links, very informative.

My biggest problem atm is the only flash I have is on the camera. Meaning no matter how I shoot, It's flashed from the front and not the side or top. So it ends up looking flat regardless. Plus lame lights, well nothing more than incadecent bulbs...

I'll get a good rig going though, then I'll post more.

There was someone who showed their rig on Flickr with their smoke pictures. Something about a black velvet backing because it's the darkest fabric you can find. Then invert in photoshop.

Ya the black bg is ideal for smoke. Not so much for what I was doing, I think. White seemed best because of the density of the color in the water. Unless I was using milk or something similar.

Not speaking proffesionally, of course
